Sticky Post
The "what are you reading" thread gave me the idea to kick off a comic book discussion thread. I was kind of surprised that we didn't have one going already, seeing as we have a rather diverse crowd of comic lovers. So, to get this one going, I bring this news:

https://screenrant.com/superman-costume-action-comics/

And I couldn't be more excited by it! :)

Just wait until you really catch up. I've stopped reading Action and Superman, but I listen to a podcast that does a focus on the Superman books. What I hear doesn't make me feel bad about my decision.
What podcast is that GA? Where can I find it?

It's called the Comic Source. Guy puts out an episode almost everyday, some some dedicated to a particular comic or publisher. Sundays he puts out a Superman episode, which can also include Supergirl. Favorite episode is on Wednesday when he does a New Comics Wednesday episode, which is pretty much spoiler-free. It's the first thing I download Wednesday morning. Find it wherever you get your podcasts from.

So, I'm all caught up now with DC (got 2 issues of The Walking Dead, but I'll get to those soon).

Bendis is confusing the heck out of me. I have no idea what he's got going on with Lois. It looks like Jon will be coming back soon (from the ad for Superman #7). The whole Rogol / Phantom Zone / Zod thing is also unusual...I guess because I don't like that the two books don't line up much. Plus, why does he have to include so many censored curse words? The number of @#$%&'s have been increasing and it just doesn't fit. I'm an adult and all, but I don't really need all that in my DC comics I guess.

Doomsday Clock #8 just turned things up a notch. The last few pages were quite exciting. The bad thing about being caught up is that I have to actually wait for the next issue instead of having it ready to read in the stack.

I just saw some spoilers for Batman #60. Ummm, what the heck is going on over there? This doesn't sound like Batman to me.

The cliffhanger was a surprise, but if you read Batman #50, you shouldn't be too surprised. It was very well done.

Only problem now is that for the next few issues there are going to be filler stories, including a crossover arc with The Flash. The follow-up from #60 won't be back until the mid to late 60s.

Not sure if you guys are into digital. I but them for trades of arcs I don't have (or don't want to pull out of the box).

Anywho, Amazon/Comixology has a great sale going on. I got a good bit of digital trades for only $4.99 each.

You can't help but to feel sorry for the guy, but why why why would you leave valuable comics like that in a storage unit? All of my most valuable books are in a bank safe deposit box. Damn, I'm hurting for the guy.

For one Las Vegas man, super villains don't just exist on the pages of comic books. They exist in real life as well and one is responsible for the theft of $100,000 worth of comic books.

According to News 3 Las Vegas, two suspects broke into Daniel Ballard's Life Storage unit on Thursday, December 27 and stole 12 boxes of comic books totaling around 3000 individual books, including several valuable issues.

The crown jewel of it was the Amazing Spider-Man," Ballard said. "I had the entire run, 1-170, volume one and two. I had a lot of other issues. The first appearance of Venom, Death of Captain Stacy, and the first appearance of the Punisher."

It doesn't say in the article, but I'm assuming this was a climate-controlled storage unit. I certainly hope so, anyway. But it sure does seem like it wasn't a random act by the thieves. Man, when you're dealing with a collection of $100k, that's not something I'd be heavily publicizing. It's gotta be a short list of people who would know he had them and I hope they catch these thieves quickly.

I surely hope he had collector's insurance on them. If not, he's totally screwed.

I realize when you have a collection like that space can be an issue, but if what he is saying is true there were some very valuable books in that collection and I hate to think they were just sitting in long boxes in storage unit. That's not real smart. You wouldn't likely do that with equaly valuable non-comic items.

Ummmmm yeah. I'm loving Peter Tomasi on Detective Comics. This last issue, however, will leave you with the feels.

Rezing this thread to ask if anyone has checked out the Jonathan Hickman X-Men relaunch/reboot/re-establishment/whatever with House of X and Powers of X. Not sure where it's all going as of yet but it's gotten me back into the mutant books after many years of not reading new stuff from them at all, and several of the new titles they announced at SDCC have piqued my interest. I've been down on Marvel's overall output for a while now, but the X-Men are my sentimental/historical favorite family of books, so I'm at least happy to see them getting pushed the fore again after quite a few years of them languishing due to crazy Ike Perlmutter and the Fox movie rights.
