Here's something to consider for your kids @Oye. Each of the Big 2 have lines specifically for kids. DC has DC Kids, which supposed to cater to the young to tween ages. Marvel has the Marvel Action line. It's specifically for the younger crowd and they actually license this line of books to another publisher (IDW) who has a good line of kid-focused books.
I didn't realize that - thanks for those. My daughter was always DC. I remember going into the comic store when she was 4 or 5 and talking to the owner of the shop and he asked her who her favorite comic book heroes were.
And she replied, "My favorite girl is Batgirl. But Cassandra Cain and not Barbara Gordon. Because I like Barbara better as Oracle. And my favorite boy is Robin. But I like Dick Grayson more than Tim Drake."
It might be kinda fun to revisit some of her favorite DC heroes from back then. She'd spend hours poring over the pictures in the character anthologies when she was that age. Then she seemed to outgrow it, for her anyway. Or lost interest. But now the comic bug has returned a bit and DC Kids might be up her alley
