Comic Book Talk (4 Viewers)

I mean, the story was so damn terrible that I remember reading even J. Michael Straczynski had issues with it.

He was basically mandated to write it that way and did so under protest. I think it kind of permanently soured his relationship with Marvel.

He did such good stuff at Marvel too. His Squadron Supreme run was the best of any of its volumes. Then they moved it from the Max imprint and then it was gone.

***ETA*** I agree with you on the mandate, but you ask Quesada, everyone (in the writer's room) was on board with the idea. They claim it was the only reason they let Mark Millar unmasked Peter in Civil War.

Quesada had this idea that fans would forget about One More Day. He was totally wrong.

Anybody check out ASM #1 and 2 since they started over with numbering? I was contemplating jumping on with them.

Nope. I just can't get with JR Jr. anymore. I can't.

So...my BIL had a bunch of comic books that he got at some conference and I guess the vendor was trying to unload what he had for cheap. Just curious if you guys have any idea on which of these have value.

None of those have any value except to those who are looking for them. Believe me, if they were of any value, the vendor would not have unloaded them for cheap.

That midnight sons might go up a bit, but it won't be a bunch. It might get a bump from the video game and the new volume in the comics.

I have fond memories of the bagged Superman. I have one or more in a long box in the closet.

Man, I remember when #75 (the death issue, black polybag) came out. Idiot who owned an LCS back then speculated the damn price of that book to $75 by the day the book came out. The backlash, rightfully so IMO, put him out of business. If that thing is worth $150 in mint condition (9.8) I would be shocked. The white bagged (Adventures of Superman #500) is worth less.

I have the black bag, as well. I believe they printed those things into the ground, though, so they're not exactly scarce. For me, they aren't about the money. It just brings me back to a time before I had much to worry about.
