Comic Book Talk

So I guess Liefeld is feeling justified. I wonder what happened...

It blew up into a whole thing:

And yeah, Rob Liefeld inserts himself.

Marvel treating creators like sheet isn't new, but there are some pretty egregious claims in there, mostly taking sketches that he was paid $100 for and then turning around and using them as covers with no royalties or other compensation.

It's no wonder everybody tries to get something creator owned going as soon as they make a name for themselves.

This is forked up here. If you got this evidence of the crap Stan went through, why do you need money to release it...?

I wasn't aware Stan Lee was mistreated or anything. Maybe he was, but he seemed like a pretty happy guy even towards the end. I can't recall him complaining about it. But I'm hardly in the know about stuff like this.

Dude, heavily mistreated. The same stories that followed Nichelle Nichols followed Stan, is not worse

He was in no mental position to complain about it. There's footage of him doing signings he was forced into towards the end and he clearly has no idea where he is or what's going on.

The story is well documented but was also very underreported by mainstream outlets for whatever reasons. It's very sad.

Yeah. And now it seems this dude wants to take advantage of it for his personal gain.

That's awful. I'm making sure the people I most trust have power of attorney if I ever get that far gone.

I thought I mentioned the story of when I met him in Boston and his handlers were just rushing as many people through the line and got mad at me when I actually stopped to ask him how he was feeling. They gave me a nasty look and I gave them a "fork you" look back.

Oof. That's messed up.

On a happier note, I got this in today. Been wanting to read the series from start to finish, but could never find a copy at bookstores and such. I have a beat up copy of issue 8, but that's all I have from my younger days.

Damn... Peter David's health issues continue. It's a damn shame...

Too many legends in this industry, responsible for characters and stories that corporations have made literal billions off of, end up in dire straights in their old age. The fact that he has lost both private insurance and Medicaid is ridiculous.

Campaign is only at 21%, and a bunch of folks are playing $1 just so they can comment and criticize the project. Your boy has taken to the media trying to explain himself. Truly hoping the campaign fails, not because the story shouldn't be told, but because the story shouldn't be exploited.
