Comic Con Talk (Renamed since LA Comic Con can't get it together) (2 Viewers)

Imagine that. I'm pretty sure it's the same people who have been doing this show and their past lineups have always had at least one person that I wanted to meet and get an auto from. Currently, that's not the case. On the plus side, I can spend that auto money on merch, so I'm okay with that. I just find it odd that, as of current guest announcements, the quality has taken a steep dive. I wonder if there's something going on with the money side of things.

I know nothing, but it certainly seems like they've had a major budget cut of some sort.

That's what I don't get. It seems like they have been doing okay and steadily growing. I know this show won't ever be as big as stuff like FanExpo, but it should be able to at least be a decent mid-tier show. Right now, it's not even at that level. Geek'd Con in Shreveport has them beat by light-years.

Yeah, for what were cons that started about the same time and were at one point competing for the SBC market, Geek'd Con has left then in the dust in terms of guests presentation, organization, etc. It's not even close.

I mentioned this in my latest podcast episode. Fan Expo gives Humble a platform where they can promote the show. They know they're no competition to them. There's no reason they shouldn't be able to take advantage of it. New Orleans Comic Con in Kenner be going all out passing out cards and free admission coupons. Not Humble. I really think in the end, it's a Louisiana thing. If you look at their other shows, they have great line-ups compared to LACC. There's really no rhyme or reason why Lafayette gets the shaft it does every year.

The last three announcements have been two cosplayers and Kody Chamberlain, who is there every year. This lineup is downright unbelievable.

I've decided to pass completely. I need to save money for Frightmare Weekend and Fan Expo Fallas back to back in May/June anyway. Their abysmal lineup makes it easier

At some point we just need to go ahead and rename this thread. I don't know anyone who's keeping the same enthusiasm about Humble in Lafayette.

At this point, the kids and I are only going for the vendor booths. We enjoy the merch hunt. That, and we'll go eat pizza at Dean-O's after. I gotta get my con trips in with them now because my son will be heading to UL in August and my daughter the August after that.

True. We have a pretty good discussion about various cons, so a name change would be fine. I can't edit the thread title, though. Can you do that as a super mod?

Yep. Since you're the thread starter, what would you like it to be?

No need for fancy. "Comic Con Talk" works for me as a companion to the "Comic Book Talk" thread.

Would you like to talk? I sent you a message, but I guess you have not seen it.
