Could Cam Jordan drop weight and play OLB? (3 Viewers)

I post for debate n contrast and discussion...i assumed it would make god convo considering the data i provided.

Guess not

DE in 3-4 it is :/

Just a silly question though. Why create more problems/questions than needed? Makes no sense.

Cam Jordan never said anything about playing OLB. That was an inference made by the writer of that blog, someone who's clearly misinformed.

Yes i know. We saw the video days ago..had anything like that have been said it would have been talked about by now.

However thts what lead me to look up his combine results. Then compared them to aldons n came away pleasantly surprised

A Lb core of Devin Taylor Tez Lofton Jordan would be a dream

The while point of switching to the 3-4 is to put players at their most natural positions. Cam will be a monster 3-4 DE.

I am sure cam could it because he excels at everything he does. I have one issue with that though he had one of the greatest seasons for a lineman in the franchise and why would you want to mess with that.

In answer to the OP, no, he can never be an OLB in a 3-4 system. He is a pure DE. He was too heavy his rookie season and he does have to watch his weight if he wants to be effective, but even at his slimmest he does not have the body type to be an OLB.

His #'s and 20lbs lighter says he could be a damn good Rush OLB too...SOLB@ worse as ive seen him drop in coverage too.

Just a thought n figured it was worth some good discussion

Fun scenario to play with. To take it further, if Cam drops 40 lbs., he could replace Harper. We just need more athletes like Cam on D

It's not worth the risk/time it would take to facilitate that change. We know what he's capable of at DE. He had a pro-bowl like season in his second year. We're switching to a 3-4 and will be able to put him into his more natural position, I think it'd be crazy to pull him further away from his most natural spot.

The best person(s) we have to fill that roll is Tez and Gallette.

Worst defense in the history of the NFL. That's why.

Overrated

Datone Jones is overrated IMO. Putting Jordan at 3-4 OLB is like how we put Tez at DE last year. He could do it but it would limit him and would not be using him to his best. I think the biggest reason Aldon is good is his long arms, which are longer than Jordan's. IMO Jordan is a BEAST and perfect fit at 3-4 END.

We don't know if Datone is overrated, we won't know until he actually play in the league. The bust fact could be the #1 pick in this year's draft, you just don't know.

I seriously doubt it was his fault they were that bad. He was one of the few that did their job. Could you imagine what would happened if he did not get those sacks? I will tell you the saints would be in the Guinness record book for a long long time.
