COVID-19 Outbreak Information Updates (Reboot) [over 150.000,000 US cases (est.), 6,422,520 US hospitilizations, 1,148,691 US deaths.] (2 Viewers)

Probably a good thing to be happening with Omicron than any other variant, since AL was probably one of the lowest vaccine rates in the country next to MS.
And I've been reading articles saying that around 30-40% are incidentals, at least where I'm from (Birmingham).

Yes, lots of places are reporting many incidentals. Meaning people not even realizing they had the virus because of mandatory testing policies in place for some companies or government employees. The same holds true for hospitalizations as they are finding many people in the hospital for some other reason are being tested because of policy and found to have Omicron.

This seems to mirror the information released from Israel a few months back.

and to highlight: During May–November 2021, case and hospitalization rates were highest among persons who were unvaccinated without a previous diagnosis. Before Delta became the predominant variant in June, case rates were higher among persons who survived a previous infection than persons who were vaccinated alone. By early October, persons who survived a previous infection had lower case rates than persons who were vaccinated alone.

I'm not sure why you're highlighting that. What do you think the implications of that observation are?

Fwiw,Dr. Z has several youtube videos out. He's a strong proponent of natural immunity. He also believes having
a prior infection gives more protection than the vaccine alone. That said, he also adds if you depend on natural
immunity alone to protect you, you are out of your mind. The best choice is and always has been to get vaccinated.

Well, yeah. If you care about immunity in the first place, it's implicit that being infected is the thing you're trying to avoid.

You'd expect immunity from prior infection to typically (but not always) be decent, that's generally how it works. But as a way of avoiding being infected, the horses already left the barn on that one.

That people who have also had natural infection are more as protected as those who got vaccinated, as now indicated by the CDC. I had eluded to the Israel study a few months back but was admonished for using it because it had not been peer reviewed yet. But now the CDC is showing similar data to those in Israel.

The vaccine did not work for me as I had a break through infection and got delta. Also I was not more than 6 months out from being fully vaccinated and still got delta as well.

Specifically and narrowly: Against Delta infection, independent of symptom severity or clinical outcome. The data for the study was collected before Omicron became the near-universal variant.

You know Vaccines don't stop infection just like previous illness doesn't. The vaccine probably saved your life but you're acting like you wasted the time it took to get it. Unbelievable.

An older guy at work caught Covid-19 before he could get vaccinated. Luckily wasn’t too awful for him. Got vaccinated. Boosted. Caught Covid again, but pretty much was asymptomatic. Was able to exercise (outside or alone).

So, yeah, it did the job…. But clearly he got infected… twice.

In Denmark, there was a study looking into both Delta and Omicron. The creator of the video did lay out some of the weaknesses of the study though

But do we know this to be sure? It possibly could have but depending on age and overall health, probably would have little to no impact.

That's speculative.

For what ever reason, people do not want to admit that natural immunity is superior. People are clearly angry I am posting links to articles pointing this out. As I said, Israel already had demonstrated this prior to the CDC.

My new policy is just to block their negativity because my life is better without people like that.

It's ripping through our household now. 2 vaxxed/boosted adult and 2 kids too young to get vaxxed. Symptoms vary but none too serious for now. I haven't gotten the official positive test yet. We're thinking I'll eventually test positive the day that we all think we're safe to go back to school/work

Getting to natural immunity means risking death from illness. The amount of people dying to avoid taking a vaccine is now in the hundreds of thousands, not speculation. I'm happy you're alive to argue my speculation after you protected yourself. Im happy your first exposure to COVID didn't happen when you had a naive immune system.
