COVID-19 Outbreak Information Updates (Reboot) [over 150.000,000 US cases (est.), 6,422,520 US hospitilizations, 1,148,691 US deaths.] (2 Viewers)

Five immediate family members got it in late May, none had significant symptoms. It was like a very light cold. And none of the five got reported anywhere. I suspect case counts are in the millions or tens of millions but it wouldn’t sound so scary to hear that that many people had a light case of the sniffles.

Well despite all my efforts, I got infected with Covid. I caught it from my daughter who brought it home from the summer camp she attends. She tested positive Friday morning and I immediately called the summer camp to let the know. I called one of my neighbors whose child attends the same camp to see if any notifications had gone out to parents to let them know. She hadn't received any calls. Later than night, she called my wife to ask what my daughter's symptoms were because her daughter had gone to Birmingham by here aunt and was feeling sick. Sure enough, she had it too.

That's two positive tests on consecutive days by kids who were in the same camp and the camp hasn't notified anyone. I suspect that the reason is strictly for money. This is a camp run by a church. There is no other legitimate reason to not notify parents other than avoiding a loss in tuition for the following week. This is how outbreaks continue. It's a damn shame. Luckily, we only had one day were it was really bad. I'm feeling a lot better now but bummed that I don't have the energy to get on the grill and my son is not yet ready to man the Oklahoma Joe.

If any of you read this post and have kids or know kids who attend the Kids on the Move Summer Camp in Laplace, please be warned that Covid is there and it's not being mitigated.

Rod, you are in my prayers. I've mentioned it before. I've lost 5 friends to this disease. It's deadly and a shame this has become political

Well, I tried my best, but I infected both my wife and daughter. Probably got them sick before I even really knew I was. The vaccines certainly give no protection as we are all fully boosted an such.

If as many people didn't get the vaccine, we'd probably still be fighting the Delta variant.

Hope you and yours get well soon. I would hazard a guess that the vaccine did what it was supposed to do. If you weren't vaxxed, you probably would have got it and been hospitalized. I hope you have an easier time of it.

I was sick on January for 5 days. I don't know if it was Covid, I never got tested I was just to exuasted to function for 5 days. I now have the free 8 at home tests, but haven't been sick again.

This is not the news I wanted to wake up too. This disease isn't going away anytime soon.
It's really not news. It basically says it can escape vaccine and prior infection immunity but that's really no different than Omicron.

Wake me up when Covid becomes more severe or can evade antibodies that protect against severe infection.

Well, our streak has ended and Covid has finally entered our house. I took my kids to south Mississippi to see my dad this weekend (flew into New Orleans) and my wife flew to Houston to go to a wedding. The boys and I seem to have made it there and back without incident, but my wife was not so lucky.

For now she's quarantining in the bedroom so we can try to contain it (she says it's the worst headache she's ever had in her life). We'll see if we can get through the next week without the other three of us contracting it.

I know the sinus pressure headache for us was insane for a good 2 days. probably the worst part.

Thank you. Yeah we are all recovering. Daughter looks like it’s only going to be a quick case. Wife other than being more tired and hard to sleep is having a pretty easy time. I got hit much harder with the muscle cramps and massive fatigue but I’m on the way up also.

Very definitely happy we are vaccinated, and will continue to stay up on them. Im in no hurry to go through those couple days again anytime soon

https://www.who.int/activities/tracking-SARS-CoV-2-variants

Basically they are just sub-lineages of the Omicron Variant.

WHO created a new classification system for them.

the CDC tracks the various sub-lineages of Omicron, since basically all of the other variants are gone.

As of mid June, BA.2.12.1 was over 50% of what was found circulating, with BA.5 and BA.4 growing, especially BA.5.

The NOWCAST for this past week, is estimating BA.5 to have taken over as over 50% of cases, and BA.2.12.1 being about 25%.

I wonder which one I caught. Statistically, I'd have to assume BA.2.12.1
