Lol, weird, it's completely the opposite here. At least in and around my neighborhood. But, it's somewhat limited cuz I really don't get out enough to have a solid line on how people are acting. Just what it looks like on the surface.

There's probably a regional effect as well. My wife comes from a rural area and I think people are taking it less seriously there because they have been less affected.

I went to Sam's Club in Pensacola early this morning during the senior hours. All of the employees and about 90% of the customers where wearing masks and we were also.

I don't see the attraction to head to New Orleans as soon as it opens up.
I would have left. Seeing zombies walk around in mask is depressing as hell.

Why? What's so bad about wearing a mask? Does that make them zombies?
To me? Yes. 75% think it’s for their protection. The other 25% if sick, should stay home. I saw this while in Asia over the years. It’s depressing as hell seeing these zomby robots in mask. Stay at home.

You aren't accounting for those who are asymptomatic carriers who could accidentally and unknowingly spread the virus. That's really the point of wearing the masks.

You would be really depressed up here because 99% of people are wearing masks. They are required to enter a supermarket. The smaller places like farmers markets and meat markets are a lot more lax.

I don't see what the big deal is about wearing a mask. All you need is a dust mask, and those are hardly restrictive. Nobody is walking around in respirators or N95s. That would indeed be burdensome.

Heck, a cloth mask works too. It's not gonna stop spread entirely, but it certainly will make spread less likely.

Costco this morning (NOLA) was about 70% masks, and they are making them mandatory starting May 4th.

I'm actually thinking of going to Pensacola for a few days, but I will be staying away from people.

So just like every day?

No doubt. Its different story when you have to drive 2 hours to the nearest positive case compared to living in a NYC highrise.

Not to be political in any way but I need to commend Gov.John Bell Edwards. On this current situation. He has been very informative in his everyday pressers and he is handling this reopening of Louisiana with complete caution. It was also a brilliant move to turn convention center into a recovery hospital. I’ve been very pleased with JBE.

It was like that yesterday evening also. I would say it was greater than 70% were wearing masks. In Metairie, it's different. Maybe 30% of people wear masks in the grocery stores and they creep up on you as if social distancing isn't a thing.

I think most of the governors are doing a good to great job handling this in their states. A few exceptions here and there. I get the sense they're doing what they think is best for the health of their state. So that's a good sign. Hopefully this summer there is better news for a bit.
