People are throwing around the word “nepotism” on this thread, and I don't get it. Marty Schottenheimer is long out of coaching and has no connection to the Cowboys. And Brian Schottenheimer has coached in the league for a long time. I don't like his offense and wouldn't want him as my HC. But it's not like he hasn't earned his stripes.
Kellen Moore just doesn’t strike me as the leader of men type. I hope we pass.
I couldn’t tell you much about Kellen’s personality and I couldn’t have told you much about Payton’s before he was hired.I don't buy into that at all. Sean Payton wasn't just a successful OC. He was ready-made to be a Head Coach mentored by Bill Parcells. He sent Donte Stallworth packing and tossed Wayne Gandy's recliner in the garbage. He wasn't just drawing up cute plays. He immediately set a whole new culture.
Kellen Moore has a lot to prove in that regard. Sure, he'll need an opportunity. But I'm not ready to equate him with Payton at all.
His performance didn't what now?Jones didn't give him a new deal; that can be spun either way. I can easily say his performance didn't justify paying him more money or a longer deal.
Got itI couldn’t tell you much about Kellen’s personality and I couldn’t have told you much about Payton’s before he was hired.
The correlation is both are QBs who didn’t make it in the NFL because they were undersized, both were OCs who had their head coach throw them under the bus, and both are creative play callers
Probably an unpopular opinion, but people don't like nepotism unless it's benefiting them.People are throwing around the word “nepotism” on this thread, and I don't get it. People throw around the word “nepotism” (in this case) for good reason. It was as big a joke for the Lakers to draft Bronny James as it was for the Pats to hire Bill Belichick’s mullet headed kid. Those guys are getting jobs that are very limited in supply while a person that has a 1000x more talent can’t even get their foot in the door. It’s a crap deal, unless you are the one benefiting from it.People are throwing around the word “nepotism” on this thread, and I don't get it. Comparing Bronny with Brian Schottenheimer who’s been coaching in the NFL and in college for nearly 30 years is absurd. Come on.People throw around the word “nepotism” (in this case) for good reason. This isn’t the same as an owner passing the family owned team down to their heirs, this is a parent getting their kid ahead even though the kid is in over his skis.
Anyway, good luck to the Cowboys with this hire. I’m sure it will pan out gloriously.
