Cutting the cable, lets talk options and media setups (1 Viewer)

I'm THIS close: |--| to cutting the cord and going with Sling TV.

Then I found out Sling only allows me to watch on one device AT A TIME. I might still do it, but I find that pretty obnoxious.

Are there any other live-stream options for major cable nets like ESPN, AMC, TNT, etc.?

Kodi has several options to stream live TV. Navi-X is one, SALTS is another. Initially you will need to look for them and play with it, but they can be bookmarked for ease of access. I finally have decent news programming now for free.

I prefer my news live and everything else on demand.

Yeah, that middle tier internet isn't available at that price from att on their website.

Yeah, I hear you. I had to let customer service know I was thinking about leaving and they sent me to the Special Man.

give it a shot.

Okay, let's talk antennas for a bit:

I am less than ten miles from every TV tower in the city. I'm so close to the WWL-TV transmitter that it should be giving me cancer.

Using one of these...

...I get okay reception on most stations, lousy reception of WWL and NO reception of WDSU or WYES.

So any recommendations? I shouldn't need an amplified antenna, according to everything I've read, unless I'm mounting an antenna on the roof and need to run more than 25' of cable. I don't like the idea of pasting one of those leaf antennas to my wall, unless I can hid it behind a picture or something. Would that affect my reception?

I'm reasonably sure that the Fire TV can be hardwired. The quad core processor and interface gives it the advantage, IMO. That it runs on Android just makes me wonder why anyone still buys the Roku.

The Roku has superior WiFi reception. It's the only device that works reasonably well on the far side of my house.

I have the fire stick and I'm a Prime member, but it still asks me for a tv provider with ESPN
