Cutting the cable, lets talk options and media setups (4 Viewers)

Yeah, hitting the drive by streaming sites won't get you a ticket. Possession and dissemination however will. So stay away from downloading and torrenting without proper protection.

under federal piracy laws you must posses and distribute the material, using kodi you do neither. there is research online showing court rulings and streaming these shows is still currently legal.

I knew this in my heart of hearts but glad to hear that there is some legal substance to this grey area now.

Well Kodi is just a platform. They can just play dumb to it all. Which is exactly what they've been doing. It's the add-ons that can and will be shut down at some point. How they decide to shut it down (end point or feeder point) will possibly be the users concern.

As long as it's a free, open source platform there will always be streaming add-ons.

I meant to throw this up previously after it got attention at CES.

The beta software that was demonstrated put OTA channels right in the menu with SlingTV. The AirTV version of the Sling TV app also adds your Netflix queue to the interface. When you power it up, it boots directly into the SlingTV app. Also integrated into the remote are controls for the TV similar to the Sideclick and Google Voice.

Now, this is made by Dish for SlingTV. If you hit the Home button, that's where it takes you. It has a Netflix button on the remote along with a YouTube button. However, it's my understanding that you have access to the Google Play store as it runs on Android TV. It's not clear if you navigate the store only through the device or if you can push apps to it through the web browser. Regardless, that theoretically gives you access to Vue, DirecTV, Sunday Ticket, Kodi, etc. All of that, plus integrated OTA in the same device for $129 (with OTA tuner) is pretty nice considering the features integrated into the remote as well. Too bad it looks like a child's toy.

I'm considering ordering one for a test drive and just returning it if I don't like it.

Anybody else getting a green line on the bottom of their TV while watching Amazon content on the Nvidia Shield?

What's a good Indoor TV antenna to work in conjunction with my PlayStation Vue? Attic access will be impossible.

If you're in the city, any of the Mohu antennas work really well. Amazon has a few of the off-brands if you are looking to save money.

As a side note, I'm really thinking of dropping Vue and sticking to Sling. I absolutely hate the mobile restrictions Vue puts on you if your not on a WiFi network.

I live in a metal building so mine will have to be outdoors. Have this on e coming in from amazon and will try to get it installed this weekend...

It only shows your tracking info

I will look at off brands as I only will be able to get 9 channels or so. I will see how Vue and Roku work and go from there....If for some reason I don't like I can always change.

So it seems that Vue has locked up a deal with the company that owns WAFB in Baton Rouge as I got live stream access when I logged in today. This is an advantage that Vue has over Sling and Dish Now in that it's the only streaming service that has access to live stream CBS.

I'm on day 3 of the Sony Playstation Vue trial and really liking the Top Tier offerings. I like the UI on my Apple TV but find it a tad lacking with my older Roku devices.

I'm thinking about downgrading to a Comcast Internet only 25 Mbps plan for around $50 a month, with their modem. That'd save me about $80 over my current Xfinity X1 package.
