anyone with Sling have issues with audio/video sync??

mostly with the dvr feature it seems...at times it can make something unwatchable

I hear really good things about this box, but I feel it'd be a waste of money to be used as just a streaming device, for me.
I have the previous generation Shield and it is awesome for streaming. I bought a SkyStream box for upstairs but it glitches in the menus, remote sucks. Nvidia is just a better device all together, even if only for streaming. For me, I’ll pay the extra money for smooth and reliable operation.

I'm sure it is excellent, but I can't see paying $200 for a device just for streaming. If I was into gaming and using it for other things I'm sure its worth it. But I have had zero issues with the Amazon Fire Stick when it comes to streaming. But that's all I use it for.
Don't get me wrong, if someone was to give me one or sell me one really cheap, I'd be all over it..lol, Its not like I'm an Amazon loyalist or anything. I had a H96 Max Android box that I really liked, but when I bought a new TV, the Android box remote controlled some functions on the TV, which was aggravating.

Not sure if this is really relevant to your needs but another feature of the Shield is its ability to be used as a smart home hub. You do have to buy a $30 dongle with it but it is pretty good considering it is also a gaming and streaming device.

Philo Is 19.95 a month, but you get a ton of the cable networks minus sports. I have kids,so It was a necessary addition for us,for the Nickelodeon channels,so Im paying right under 70 for both services.
slightly off topic; there are a lot of stations not available on the other streaming services. is it owned by viacom?

PS Vue is officially toast. Shutting down at the end of January.

I will probably ride it out until then in order to keep RedZone through the regular season. Major drawback to Youtube TV is no NFL network/RZ - has anyone found a workaround for that?

This sucks. I actually liked Vue because I got my local channels, too. I don't think any of the other streaming services offer locals, NFL Network and the ID Channel (my family's must-haves).

IPTV services, if you don't mind going that route.

I have a 2015 Nvidia shield and two 2017 Nvidia shields.

I love them but I don't need another. I have read that they're going to sell the remote to be used with the older models. The 2015 version doesn't hold a charge anymore so I'm going to buy the new remote for it.

I've been finding that I need a htpc for some of the streams that I want. I used to have 4 HTPCs but they were a pain. Now I'm going back. ?

Youtube TV. Interface is easy to use for me. I have tried Hulu and thought the interface and menus were worst of all i have tried. You can add HBO, Epix, and showtime for i am guessing $20-30.
