Cutting the cable, lets talk options and media setups (5 Viewers)

What are you using if I can ask?
I use a service called Hypersonic TV Pro.
I ran across it back when I was using Kodi a lot. The kodi build I used had it as one of their Add-ons. I never really thought about using it until I found out it had a stand alone android APK and web player.
I figured for $20 for three months (2 devices at a time) it wouldn't hurt to try.
Its not perfect, but it works pretty good. sometimes I may run across a channel that doesn't work here or there. but what I like is I am able to watch all NFL games. It's not Sunday Ticket, but basically, they have all the NFL games from Local channels all put together in a menu.
If you want the website, message me, and you can look at it and see if its something you could be interested in. (I am not a seller, I just like to recommend it)

Do you have to use a VPN with it?

I don't. Some people say you need to. But from what I understand is, as long as you are not downloading content, you don't have anything to worry about. But this service doesn't have the option to download any content. Its streaming only. I have had it for about 2 years.
Maybe the Russians are getting all my info, but oh well, they probably already got it off Facebook..

I'm going to have to check it out. We've had PS Vue for awhile now. However, I'll be paying $65/month soon for it. Our main thing is having a DVR.

if you have a Firestick, you should look into apps such as Cyberflix or TV Zion (or the many others like them) for TV shows.

real debrid and something like Seren, which we just started using, has been nice. Exodus has made a return and Exodus redux is on the market too. Lots of good options right now.

I find the Terrarium clones much easier to navigate than Kodi. Kodi is old reliable (if using Real-debrid). if someone is not as techy, the stand alone apps are easier to learn.

yes, the interfaces are better, too - my wife definitely prefers it. The other stuff is mostly out of habit for me.

I'm all over the place. I have 1 firestick, 1 roku and an apple tv but I cant get the apple tv to work anymore.

The 2 tvs we watch the most have a cable box and are smart tvs so we really just use the wifi connection and tv remote to watch netflix/prime/hbo go etc.

If I get an antenna do I need one for each tv or is there such a thing as wireless HD antenna?

There are a few options I think but I went HD Homerun. Antenna into the HD bix intk your router. Load the HD app on your phone and tvs and you have antenna content all over. There are some limitations to consider. Two or four tuner box being the biggest.

The Roku TV I have in the living room, has a built in guide for the antenna (pulls the program info from the web), and it also has a 30 minute pause button for Live TV (I had to plug a 64GB thumb drive in the USB port). But I rarely use it, Only for Saints Games.

I just picked up the Fire Recast at Best Buy for 130 and I have to say that it has far far surpassed my expectations. Seamless integration with FireTV/Stick, ability to watch on any of my devices (even live TV) and whether I am home or away. The way the channel guide works with the local broadcast and rolling right into pluto (and so many of the same channels that are found on cable because they don't want to lose ad money after all) The menu for both live TV and recordings looks just like when you log in to prime or netflix with episode summary. It is a beautiful set up.

I shall never look back.

Philo integrates as well

Cox tech just left my house with my 3 cable boxes. Feels good. Still don't know what my final streaming set up is going to be but I feel better just knowing my Cox bill just dropped from $220/mo to $70.

Depending on what service we choose I think I will end up saving close to $100/month.

What are you guys paying for internet access? I am on a $44.95/month promo with Spectrum. Advertised at 100MB/S although I have never tested it. Supposedly (per their online chat rep) they offer a secret 30MB/S plan at $14.95/month with a phone number to call but when I asked about it I was told my address didn’t qualify. It’s as we all thought. When they control the pipeline they will just jack that price up not concerned about where you choose to get your content. One day I may choose to do without all of it.

Cox charges me $90/month. CenturyLink just laid fiber in my neighborhood though.
