Cutting the cable, lets talk options and media setups (2 Viewers)

Hey, who do you guys use for IPTV? I used logicstreams which is now linkstreams, the VOD has been crap lately and they jumped up to 30 a month. Live TV is really good tons of local channels all movie channels and they have these 24/7 channels with no commercials having one show on all the time like the office, curb ur enthusiasm, east bound and down. They haven't added to VOD in a few days for movies, tv in like 3 weeks.

TV has just become really bad in general, so not gonna pay for it. The antenna is free and has some odd channels that play classic shows that are worth watching. Youtube and Amazon Prime offer plenty of media content. About twice a year I subscribe to Netflix to watch Better Call Saul and some movies. Also, I will buy the full series of a show I like.

If you like classic, check out PlutoTV. Its free and is practically cable TV from the 90s

I have been a YoutubeTV subscriber for about a year now. We are not watching most of the channels. I am considering moving to the Amazon Fire TV Recast - or something similar. My biggest issue is getting ESPN/SEC Network for college football. Anyone have any thoughts on the ability to get the ESPN lineup?

Sorry if this was covered earlier in this 56 page discussion.

The Cinema free app on fire-stick works well though the content I’m watching may not work for everyone- I’m watching hill street blues and Rockford’ files

Fire stick also get you tube etc

I have an IPTV service called Hypersonic. its $20 for three months (2 devices at a time). You can use it on Any Android device they also have a web application (for PC). They also have 24/7 channels, some VOD (very limited) tons of local channels from all over the US, even tons of other channel from all over the world, Sunday Ticket, etc
Its not 100% reliable for all channels, but I would say 95% reliable, but for the price, I can't complain.
Honestly, I barely use it. My wife uses it more than I do, pretty much to watch Hallmark channels...
I rarely watch live TV except sports, which is the biggest reason I have it. For everything else I use Cyberflix and TVZion VOD apps.
There are numerous IPTV services out there, but this is the one I ran across when I decided to cut the cord and have been using it ever since. Their support team is very helpful.

Cox has been sending me notes for months about my home phone service being disconnected if I didnt upgrade and this week was the deadline. Used it as a chance to cancel my cable subscription at the same time - will go down to internet only on Monday, so I am going to be coming back to this thread a lot I think.

I am not all that tech savvy so I've never heard of a lot of the services I'm reading about in this thread - I was assuming I will need something like Sling or Hulu or DirectTv now if I want things like ESPN?

HD antenna, maybe - what are your streaming box options? What sort of hardware do you have (Roku, Chromecast, FireTV or Stick? AppleTV? Playstation?)

I'm all over the place. I have 1 firestick, 1 roku and an apple tv but I cant get the apple tv to work anymore.

The 2 tvs we watch the most have a cable box and are smart tvs so we really just use the wifi connection and tv remote to watch netflix/prime/hbo go etc.

If I get an antenna do I need one for each tv or is there such a thing as wireless HD antenna?

We have each of those and then some. The Roku is a better option in the US than it is here - I don't use it anymore on either of the main two TVs, so I can't really speak to that one.

The Apple store is going to be limited to apps - probably not a big deal if it doesn't work. We have a couple of 3rd generation ones and a 4th gen. The 4th gen gets the most used, hooked up to a Canadian IP for CDN apps. But, again, it's pretty limited.

For my US apps, I have a Chromecast (which is more for ease of use with the Google Home Mini system we have here) but most of what I watch is through the FireTV. I have a couple of Firesticks and they were totally fine - just a little under-powered for some of the streaming I was doing.

But those were pretty particular ones.

The Amazon Firestick app store doesn't load Google apps from the Google play store, which sucks occasionally. But I've been pleased with the FireTV and the Firestick before it.

Amazon now has the Recast, which I haven't used - and allows you to record from streaming devices, but I haven't used it.

The Firestick and a good HD antenna would probably set you up pretty easily.

Wondering if y'all can help as I do not have the patience to read through 56 pages of messages.....

I currently have AT&T Uverse and also subscribe to Netflix and Prime (not really for TV content). Two adults and two teens in the house. I watch primarily sports and some movies in the evenings (mostly in the winter). Currently have Showtime and HBO, but HBO was added for GoT earlier this year.

My daughter saves shows to the hard drive frequently, so I was hoping to keep that option. I need to watch Saints and LSU, so hoping to have the channels that carry them. Uverse is in negotiations with NFL Network now....haven't had it for several months. I'm an NFL fan, so that is something that I would like to have when the season starts. My wife watches primarily local news and broadcast channels.

I own a couple fire sticks, a ROKU, and my son has a PS4. My network is pretty good with no issues at this time.

Can y'all give me some solid options? I really need the local channels and sports stations that carry the Saints and LSU. I would pay $5-10 a month for HBO if the service I go with carries it in that price range. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Recast is an over the air DVR to be used with an antenna. It does not record any streaming services. I got one a couple of weeks ago for DVRing broadcast stuff and its worked well

Would ESPN+ work? Disney plus is bundling that and the ad based hulu.
