It was time for Dennis Allen to go. Someone had to be held accountable.

He had horrible injury luck his first year and this year. The OL situation was impossible but they needed a change.

However, I hope we don’t continue the complete disrespect. His overall coaching record doesn’t really have much to do with the Saints. He was .500 coach after week 2.

DA did a lot for the Saints and New Orleans as the secondary coach in our Super Bowl run and as a DC he helped keep Brees and Sean going for another 4-5 seasons and ended our defensive nightmare overnight.

It absolutely didn’t workout with him as Head Coach, but let’s remember to appreciate some of the things that did go right for him here over the last 18 years.

I’m excited about the new direction and thank
you for everything you did here Coach!

what 18 years?

he was gone for 5 of the 18.

Zero love from me. He single-handedly undid everything that SP and Brees helped build. This isn’t a wash type scenario. His failures and shortcomings greatly superseded any good that he did. We should’ve been in the playoffs this year and the past two. I don’t condone failure of this magnitude. I hope he lives a good life but he is getting zero love from me, unless he can give me all of those Sundays back that I had to watch his lifeless stare on the sidelines. Yeah I’m being petty and bitter……don’t care. Come @ me bro

The narrative that Dennis is a great defensive coordinator is overblown on this forum. Dennis does have a great defensive mind. He is a good defensive coach. He has never been a leader of men though. His defences lack detail, tackling and have always allowed big back breaking plays. From the Minnesota Miracle, to Tom Brady comebacks, to missed tackles, big plays allowed his players lack discipline. Sean offset that some while he was here but you saw DA's true colors shine though when his hand wasn't being held and the pebbles that got caught by Sean were left to fall through the cracks.

That’s debatable. Dennis Allen never had a top 5 defensive ranking without Ryan Neilson. In fact when Dennis Allen took over after Rob Ryan was fired his defense was ranked in the mid twenties. When Ryan Neilson joined the Saints his 1st year that was when we saw overnight success with the defense as a whole. Neilson turned the Saints defensive line into a force holding teams to less than a 100 yards rushing for three years breaking records.
