DA is gone. Don’t jump on the disrespect, he did a lot of good here (1 Viewer)

He was not any good.
2017 wild card, 5-point lead, sacked Cam Newton to end the game
2018, week 16 vs PIT, 3-point lead, forced fumble to secure home field advantage
2018, divisional round vs Philly, 6-point lead, Lattimore INT ended the Eagles’ attempt to come back
2020, wild card vs Chicago, kept them out of the end zone until the final play and kicked the Bears into a rebuild
XLIV, 7-point lead, a member of the Dennis Allen-coached secondary caught a pick and ran the other way and secured the team’s first Super Bowl.

It’s okay to not like Dennis Allen but some of you are cruel to the point of being ahistorical about the times his defenses DID step up.

We need to get out of that man heavy scheme and get in more zone cover 2 so these dba can make plays on the ball instead of of chasing guys all over the field, teams kill us with those crossing routes.

Even at its best, his defenses could never hold on to a last minute lead. How many last minute game winning drives were wasted over the past 10 years because of this?
So I was curious to answer my own question. So I went back and checked the box scores for the past 10 years that he has been in charge of the D. I looked for games where we scored a game tie-ing or game "winning" score with less than 3 minutes in the game an checked the results:

5 game tie-ing scores under 3:00
- 2 blew the tie and lost in regulation
- 1 held on to tie lost on OT
- 2 held on to tie, won in OT

14 what could've/would've been game winning scores under 3:00
- 5 blew the lead and lost in regulation
- 1 other team tied and we eventually lost in OT*(NOLA No Call)
- 1 gave up lead but offense won it again with :21 left
- 6 held on to win
- 1 clinched win with pick 6

It was time for Dennis Allen to go. Someone had to be held accountable.

He had horrible injury luck his first year and this year. The OL situation was impossible but they needed a change.

However, I hope we don’t continue the complete disrespect. His overall coaching record doesn’t really have much to do with the Saints. He was .500 coach after week 2.

DA did a lot for the Saints and New Orleans as the secondary coach in our Super Bowl run and as a DC he helped keep Brees and Sean going for another 4-5 seasons and ended our defensive nightmare overnight.

It absolutely didn’t workout with him as Head Coach, but let’s remember to appreciate some of the things that did go right for him here over the last 18 years.

I’m excited about the new direction and thank
you for everything you did here Coach!
He’s a good DC just not a good HC. I agree he helped us win some games also. It didn’t work out. No need to kick him when he’s down. Had to correct my earlier post Gregg Williams was our DC for Super Bowl year.

I was hoping we would at least let him finish out the season so he could shoot for the lowest overall win percentage in history.

Good DC not cut out to be a HC but nothing ill to say him being fired was the right call. He may become like Spags find the right situation and win as a DC. Spags is/was a horrible HC

Listen, I supported Dennis Allen when he was our DC and was perfectly happy with giving him a chance as our Head Coach.

But I lost respect for him when he would throw players and the team under the bus.

From that point on, I was ready for him to go. He is the reason why I stopped posting on the forum anymore.

He took alot of joy out of watching the Saints, but I do wish him the best in his next chapter and I hold no ill will for him
