DA is gone. Don’t jump on the disrespect, he did a lot of good here (2 Viewers)

It was time for Dennis Allen to go. Someone had to be held accountable.

He had horrible injury luck his first year and this year. The OL situation was impossible but they needed a change.

However, I hope we don’t continue the complete disrespect. His overall coaching record doesn’t really have much to do with the Saints. He was .500 coach after week 2.

DA did a lot for the Saints and New Orleans as the secondary coach in our Super Bowl run and as a DC he helped keep Brees and Sean going for another 4-5 seasons and ended our defensive nightmare overnight.

It absolutely didn’t workout with him as Head Coach, but let’s remember to appreciate some of the things that did go right for him here over the last 18 years.

I’m excited about the new direction and thank
you for everything you did here Coach!
I liked him as our DC...for the most part. The fault lies with Loomis for every hiring him as a head coach in the first place.

Ehhh
He still choked too much for my liking.
But as I said in previous post on the topic. DA will be bounce back somewhere.
They had some bad ones for sure but my point was that there were times that his defenses stepped up and did what they had to do to protect a small lead. Saying they “always choked” just isn’t the truth.

The world is full of decent people who can’t do the job they have. I know I lot of people who I think are great, but wouldn’t want them doing my taxes or operating on my stomach.

It isn’t about Allen as a person. He’s not a good head coach, that’s all. He should take his money and go do good in the world. Coach high school, open a soup kitchen, something. But not in pro football. He’s had enough chances.

He just wasn’t meant to be a Head Coach. There is no shame in that fact. Shame on the people they tried to fit a round peg in a square hole.

This is a lesson in life to all. Opportunities are not always what is best for someone in the long run. You have to know your limits and understand when you have reached the top of your abilities

Zero love from me. He single-handedly undid everything that SP and Brees helped build. This isn’t a wash type scenario. His failures and shortcomings greatly superseded any good that he did. We should’ve been in the playoffs this year and the past two. I don’t condone failure of this magnitude. I hope he lives a good life but he is getting zero love from me, unless he can give me all of those Sundays back that I had to watch his lifeless stare on the sidelines. Yeah I’m being petty and bitter……don’t care. Come @ me bro
I agree 1000%

He was an OK DC...that's it! His playcalling was, at best, mediocre and sometimes incompetent. His late game failures have become so routine that many expect the defense to fail.

The D could use a new philosophy as well!!! Putting him back at the lead of the D will just continue on with its passive play. I rather have a Defense that can attack an offense using stunts & blitzes rather than solely relying on individual players winning 1v1 battles. Allen is a passive coach who rather win a game 9-6. He gotta go!

Not a good head coach. Not an inspiring leader of men.

By all evidence he is a great coach of defense backs and seems to know how to evaluate and develop them.

I think generally speaking he was a good defensive coordinator, and his defensive play calling last year was top of the league according to some advanced metric on play callers. When he took over the defense we finally started to see the end of the "same old Saints defense" of the Sean Payton era, the revolving door of defensive coordinators, etc.

The last domino to fall on his tenure was the collapse of his defense. It was his one asset he brought to the team, the one loss I cared about at the thought of firing DA. But now we are no longer an underachieving offense saddled to a top defense. Now we just suck, top to bottom.

It's time to get a whole new coaching staff, a whole re-look at the front office and the person responsible for personnel decisions, spend two years cleaning the books of our aged, underachieving talent while drafting our pants off in the hopes that in two to three years we have a team that can get the fanbase excited for football again.

We may not outwardly state it; but, honestly, I really don't think anyone here is disrespecting the man. They're disrespecting his abilities as head coach because, simply put, that's not his jam. Only reason why I wanted to throw dog poop at him was to show what I think of his job as head coach, not cuz I think he's a bad human being

Good riddance

I thank him for the years, but he wasted talent and time with DD, Cam, etc. Those players are another year older and another year without a playoff attempt.

Watch him go to Denver in some type of “analyst” or “coordinator” in some smaller role.
