Dave Grohl drags Taylor Swift on stage in London (2 Viewers)

apparently Grohl's teenage daughter drug Swift about burning like 10 billion gallons in jet fuel and all, then preaching saving the planet. hypocrite and all. Swifties came at her with death threats and all kinda of crap. pretty sure Dave was venting at the source of the toxicity in his own way. swift is known for being a ruthless female dog when it comes to ppl that criticize her.

* This coming from a 37 year old dude who has no reference other than his teenage neices
you taking about Swift attacking people that criticize her, or her fans? because there's a big difference there.

I don't disagree with much of that, but I think there's a difference between saying someone sucks and deliberately trying to tear someone down, whether from jealousy or whatever. Like saying her music is blah, ok, but saying she's lip synching when that's probably not true or that she's being inauthentic or whatever if not justified isn't really fair to her, or Brooks or whoever.

Justified criticism I can deal with. Irrational hatred, not so much.

I hear you. But, it just seems like any minor criticism of Swift, based on talent and music, is met with over reaction. I do think some of the nasty stuff said about her on a personal level is uncalled for. But, assuming the story about Grohl's kid getting dragged by Swifties is true, I could see why he might go off half-cocked. I have no idea if what he said is true on not. If it turn out to be true then IMO, it's fair game. And, frankly, I think it's probably true that most people who put on shows like Swift do some amount of lip synching and given that Gohl is in the industry, he may be privy to information that we don't necessarily have.

Just seems like a bit of jumping the gun to assume Gohl doesn't know what he is talking about.

I'm not saying Grohl is right or wrong. I don't know the situation behind the scenes either. And Swifties being overreacting is par for the course...especially considering a large part of her audience is teens and younger folks. That's hardly surprising.

And fwiw, rivalries between performers in the industry is pretty common, so who knows what's driving it. Everything gets magnified when you're superstars, for better or worse.

Swift is now saying Grohl disrespected the band that plays for her, saying they always play live and insinuating she lip syncs is doing a disservice to them .
if they truly do play live, then yes, i could see that would offend them. when someone like Grohl puts that on you, that probably doesn't help your career..

I mean he only insinuated she lip syncs. He never went after her band.

On a very real level, Grohl is a legacy act. He is our generations Paul McCartney, but even nicer. If you've run afoul of that guy, you should reconsider whatever you are doing.

I have too much work to do and I definitely don't have time to be procrastinating... so I obviously looked at what he actually said.

Seems like he was making a joke about their tour being the "Errors Tour" as opposed to Swift's "Era's Tour", and saying they make more than a few errors because "we actually play live". That's it?

That doesn't even insinuate she lip syncs. It implies that some elements of her tour aren't played live (so in that sense it goes after any element, which could be taken to include singing and the band), but it's mainly a joke about the fact that they're a "raw, live, rock'n'roll" band that make errors.

So this is all basically for an 'Errors/Eras' gag?

This story falls into my I don't give a shirt category, but I am confused.
So Grohl is pointing out that Swift doesn't play live while he's broadcasting on a big screen. I don't see anyone on the stage.
Am I missing the point??

It definitely feels like one of those blown way out of proportion things.

It's really all just so he could set up the "Errors tour" joke. That's it.
i mean, he's getting from it what he wanted,, attention.

But didn't he go a TV back in the day with Nirvana and do a recorded show? I know he was againt it, but he did it (even though he half assed it on purpose to prove a point). he could have refused, but he didn't.. I know Kurt refused to LipSync, but allowed the recording of the band?

TIL "LipSync" is capitalized.

It would not surprise me at all if the TSwift band was faking it live. Most of her songs now are just sequencers and midi, written by the producer...there isn't much for real musicians to do. At any rate her show is probably full of backing tracks to do the stuff that the real players cannot do. It's super common. I kind of hate it but nowadays people expect the show to sound like the record. If you layered up 3 drum machines, a real drummer/percussionist, synth bass, 15-20 synth tracks and 35-40 vocal tracks it is basically impossible to replicate it live.

That's why I prefer rock and roll(which is now mostly fake as well as using the same techniques).

Anyway Grohl should keep his mouth shut unless he knows something for sure.

I havent seen or read anything other than some social media accounts saying this. I've seen a couple of her concerts on TV and I dunno, it looked good to me.

Not saying you're wrong, but how does someone know this? I don't follow this stuff, so I'm probably clueless on it.

Maybe, but I don't think any of that would take away from the show.

I prefer rock/metal myself as well, but I like all kinds.

I think he knows, but TS doing something typically done in the industry doesn't take anything away from her, and Grohl should know that.
