I haven't been singing Carr's praises, but I really think he has the leadership tools to get this team going in the right direction. These are the things that really matter off the field. This is how you get "haters" to give him a chance. Derek Carr has been a leader and professional. Now, if we can get him to say a few less "you knows" during his interviews, we might have a QB on our hands.

Was not a Carr fan when he was a Raider and was very “meh” when we signed him but optimistic. His first year here I wasn’t impressed but seems there was a lot more going on. I hope he does well here. We need a good QB badly.

toxic booing hurts a team. Some say its a "segment of the fan base" True, but all it takes is a few hundred toxic fans to boo (way too early) will embarrass the team and organization and its true fans. By the way, this isnt a new thing. Our fans have been classically called "classless pigs" on national television for booing an injured Saints Qb.

Playing like a great QB would turn a lot of the criticism around. But it's not just about his play on the field, which was very good in the last 7 games. If it was, Winston wouldn't be so popular with the fan base. He was certainly never a great QB on the field but we embraced him because he was fun, a good locker room guy, and has a great personality. The same is somewhat true of Bridgewater. Truth is that Carr is likely better than Winston and certainly better than Bridgewater, but those guys never got the heat that Carr gets.

To the Saints credit, they set the table for Derek Carr - Year two for DC, and, Kubiak with a new install.

Derek has to show he can thrive in the offense and he'll be given some time in the regular season to adapt. But anything short of his finally raising his talent ceiling and leading the Saints to wins and key wins will not be an acceptable performance.

Some spicy matchups with big stages are just around the corner - season opener, at Dallas, Philly at home, Falcons on the road, Chiefs on the road, Broncos at home.

i hope so, because hes going to get it. Some Raider fans say keep up the pressure on Carr (from the fan base) because itll keep him motivated. Yea i dont know about that one.

but after the first incomplete pass? you know its going to happen. Do you justify toxic booing as frustration? The Saints could be 7-2 and go three and out, and the fans will boo. Remember this, its widely known that the Superdome is the toughest home field advantage to play in, in ALL of sports. It could be like the Saints have 17 away games this year.

I don't really see the point in booing since I don't think it really helps anything. It's not as if a player or a team is not aware of when they are playing bad. But, I can't say I haven't done it on a few occasions when the liquor and emotion got the best of my rational thoughts.

But, if people want to boo when the team is playing terrible then fine. But, to boo in an open practice before the season even starts seems dumb to me.

The flack he gets is because Jameis got a raw deal made out like he was the issue then we paid another qb kinda signaling he would fix us but we looked just as mediocre while barely being able to score it’s not all his fault but when you take a leadership role it comes with it

I’m still a believer that the money spent on his contract could’ve been used else where with some of the holes on this team

I'm not a fan of DA and the way the Saints organization is run currently but Derek Carr is the least of our problems.

He's not great, not special, but he is an effective, accurate passer when given time and is a good "bridge" QB until we get the future guy (whether by FA, trade and/or draft).....the key to his performance this year is just like the last, how good his protection holds up.....
