Derek Carr the target of parade float “joke” (3 Viewers)

He started playing better when the o-line started playing better and the playcalling improved a little.
I hope that they put all of that somewhere on the float.

This is all much ado about nothing. This krewe (and others) lampoon everyone. Were people this up in arms a few years back when floats mocked LaToya Cantrell?

It’s Mardi Gras, get over it.

When asked for later comment, he said “as the kind of parade that CHAOS is, I can understand when you’re dealing with all the noise about your history, you’re dealing with other parades having better attendance—and they love other parades—but I can understand where frustration starts to build.”
This is perfect lol

According to the overlord bots at ChatGPT:

"While it's true that Mardi Gras floats often mock various public figures and personalities, it's important to consider the impact and context of these parodies. While some may consider it harmless fun, others may find it disrespectful or hurtful. Understandably, some people are not happy with the portrayal of Derek Carr on the float, especially considering it was his first Mardi Gras experience as a community member. People will react differently to such situations, so respecting their perspectives is important."

That's actually a fair answer... that is... if you really don't want to take a stance. :hihi:

C'mon, man, who didn't see this coming?

I'm surprised there wasn't a Dennis Allen float with a prop of him chopping wood.
Right? However that would have probably had to be a super float, or a double decker. Lol

A few months ago I asked Chat GPT to name the movie where the characters skipped school, portrayed a sausage king and destroyed their father’s car. It came back with “License to Drive”. Close. But the correct answer was “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”.

AI isn’t always right. Lol

I totally agree with you. It was absolutely classless and I am sure his family was hurt by it. And for those that think this was OK it's no wonder why good players refuse to come here. Trust me, that prank will leave a lasting impression our QB for years to come. We say we want a winner, we as fans should act like we've won something before. At least we're not wearing bags. Just my two cents.

Derek Carr appears to disagree with you:

I love my hometown, and will defend it to the death, however yesterday while at work people asked me to explain parade Krews. As I explained that riders wear masks, and in the 90s krews were forced to integrate, and then Nyx…and man…if questions didn’t start getting awkward.

That's a missed opportunity, lol. He might have said it after they decided on float designs tho.

It honestly doesn’t make us look like anything. It’s a float and Mardi Gras. They had zions face on a Popeyes float one year and nobody batted an eye. I’d also say Zion is far better at his profession than DC is currently. I have no idea why people feel they need to shield a rich athlete like he’s a toddler. It actually fuels to people criticizing him more. Whenever he leaves I hope some of you leave with him.
I’ve been a Saints fan since ‘84. So, I ain’t going anywhere. You see folks like me wanting to “shield a rich athlete”, but you can’t see that maybe it’s because we don’t want our fanbase to look like Philly’s. As for the Zion float, I thought it was trashy too. I have spoken my critiques about both, but they are still playing for our teams, and I see absolutely zero value in making fun of them in such a manner. It just makes us look classless. Make fun of Anthony Davis, the Falcons, Goodell, or whoever else is oppositional, but don’t treat our current players like this. I don’t think that’s some sort of laughable or extreme stance.

They obviously started working on this float long before the last chunk of the season, when Carr was playing lights out. Oof.
