A couple of years ago, you probably would have been elated.

This narrative is getting pushed a lot.

If it’s not about money, then sign with the Saints and get going. Otherwise, it’s making it seem like he doesn’t want to be in NO.

Why rush? FA has not started. Just because $ is not the most important thing does not mean that 4-5m a yr doesn't mean anything. My guess is his agent is saying this will likely be his last big contract so we need a market price. I think we signs with us just before FA starts

He should at least hold out to see what Jones gets from the Giants. Sounds like Jones and NY might be far enough apart for them to use the franchise tag.

Once again here's your ford Taurus. This is a great breakdown, a bit long but in-depth. It's obviously from a Jets fan POV, just sub Saints for every time he says Jets. And this was from 22 not his best yr. This shows why he's our best option and why he's worth the 28-33m being talked about

Feels like he wants to go to the Jets and willing to wait it out. Wonder what alternatives the Saints have planned.

Agree, it came out ~2 weeks prior that it’s about fit not money for Derek. If true he seems to prefer the Jets opportunity. Loomis said he was going through his process and so are we. Think he knows we maybe plan B for Derek and has started to analyze other options.

Where in the world did you get the idea that DC prefers the Jets? He stayed almost 3 days here AND brought the wife , something he did not in NJ

With reports saying the Saints want to sign Carr sooner than later, it leads me to think the following.

1. They don’t want to be Carr’s leverage with the Jets. The Jets want Rodgers but it wouldn’t surprise me if that deal to the Jets doesn’t happen for any number of reasons. Such is life in the world of Rodgers. If the Jets are now focued on Carr, as some are saying, the Saints could be removing themselves from being leverage.

2. The Saints are legitimately trying to get it done because Carr to the Jets is a leverage to get more money out of the Saints. If the Saints don’t think it’s happening, they press for a deal and ignore the Jets threat.

3. Carr has no intent to sign with the Saints. Saints are saying they want to sign him now for marketing/saving face purposes. The next step would be saying they are moving on from Carr and have decided to go in a different direction.

Being a backup for a yr or so to a good QB with a very good offensive-minded HC didn't work for a certain other QB trying to revive a career did it? LOL , just had to mess with you on that one

It’s being reported by a couple of beat writers. If the 3 day stay was so meaningful why has he not signed? He’s on record saying it’s not about money.

I absolutely agree he’s better than the other options we currently have, just don’t think it’s a wise move as our window is closed imo. We need to start the process of getting the cap back in order and working towards opening a new window.
