Derek Carr world tour thread (updated with combine visits) (1 Viewer)

The hope is new QB + PC realizing how awful he was last year and committing to revamping things, perhaps with some urging from our head coach.

Underhill and Triplett talked about this and they said that even though they say, "keep doing what we're doing", they know that things need to change. If we can get 2012 Pete back with DA's defense, that would be something to watch.

This wasn’t a progressive thing. The horrible play calling was apparent the first half of week 1. I agree with you on one thing, PC isn’t Payton because CSP was the head coach who had complete control over the offense. I am in the camp believing DA had way to much influence on the direction of the offense, for his reasons. So PC had to design around what DA wanted instead of what was best for personnel. I give PC benefit of the doubt but DA….nah

I actually think the opposite was true...DA had next to no input on the offense and still operated as if he was the D.C., strictly focusing on that side of the ball while dodging/deferring any questions about the O.

2012 Pete called an offense based on one that the Saints haven’t ran since 2016. Maybe CSP kept that playbook

If this is true, then we might have a case of an OC that can draw up plays but can’t scheme for personnel, which is not good. Again, this is just looking into how we came out of the gate. It “worked” out because Dalton is a conservative QB. So what if that was the plan all along. *reaching for aluminum foil fedora*

I believe it was Deuce who mentioned that how in training camp that Payton would take care of the offense and DA the defense. But, this past training camp DA was in on the offense and special teams. So, that may not be true. But, it's pretty clear what didn't work and what will happen if they don't do any different.

If the Saints get Carr, I think DA will have the confidence to go back to that.

When Dalton played for the Bears, a quarter of his pass attempts targeted receivers running hitch routes. He also ranked 35th out of 36 QB’s in percentage of pass attempts 20+ yards downfield. I think the offense was more tailored for him than we appreciate.

So what´s the hold up? I´m guessing Carr wants to see if he can get a better monetary offer out there...

His brother said he’s chilling on a beach in Mexico.

Edit: guess he’s back, lol. Visiting the Jets now.

I mean, if he wants to destroy his career and end up cut as a shell of his former self in two years, he can go to the Jets.

We aren't exactly a prime location, but we aren't the Jets.
How much does location really factor into now?
The Chiefs are building a super power in middle America.

A reminder that Derek Carr is now more than a week removed from his visit to N.O., and there has yet to be any rumblings of him visiting with any other franchise, even post-release.

Meanwhile, New Orleans is uncharacteristically getting a one month early start on restructuring player contracts to get under the cap.

Damn, jinxed it.

"Since being selected in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft, Derek Carr has been the team's starting quarterback and has played in seven games in which the temperature was 36 degrees or lower. He has a 0-7 record in these games. He has never scored more than one touchdown or helped his team score more than 19 points in a single game. The Raiders have yet to score more than 17 points in any of those seven games."

Don't go to New York Derek.
