Dalton is a better option than Mayfield. Doesn't make sense to downgrade at the QB position. If you're making a change, get an overall better QB (Carr) or a younger, more dynamic QB (Fields). But going from a better QB to Mayfield doesn't make any sense at all.

Have you watched any Bears games where Fields has to throw the ball...

Fields isn't better than Mayfield!

Fields is going to cost draft picks. I doubt Chicago gives him away!

Dalton is 35 & he is going to be 36 this year...Fields is 23 & he is going to 24 next month..Mayfield is 27 & he is going to be 28 in April.

The NFL is still about throwing the football with your QB...

Carr visiting the Jets

I’d like us to sign Carr but if he’s enough of an idiot to go to the Jets then they’re welcome to him. One of the hardest divisions in football, in the hardest conference and an OC who has been a disaster wherever he’s been.

Hopefully he’s just doing this to up his price and not because he’s genuinely considering it. I’d have to seriously question his intelligence if it’s the latter, they’d move on from him within 3 years if he’s lucky.

We have a terrible cap situation.

Our oline at guard is terrible... Peat should just go find Jimmy Graham and spend the rest of his life flying planes cause he doesn't have the heart for football

Alvin Kamara mind isn't right since the issue in Vegas and it was clearly on his mind all year

Olave and Shaheed and Juwan.. without these 3 players we would be the 33rd ranked offense.. I say 33rd because I would put a team that doesn't exist ahead of us.

We also have the money to build around Carr if we want. The Jets are in a tougher division in the much tougher conference. And their coaching staff is on shakier ground than ours.

Is it possible that the offensive play calling was hindered by having mostly backups in all season? 2 rookie receivers, a developing former WR at TE, shifting starting Oline lineups and a quarterback that was never intended to start likely contributed to a lot of the vanilla playcalling. PC isn’t Payton but he was around all those years and did have a lot of success when he was given the opportunity to be the play caller. I’d like to see what he can do with an offense that stays healthy and with a smart, talented QB before writing all that history off and accepting that he’s just a terrible OC.

Stop it, he’s just not good at OC, there’s no excuse for no motion, running AK into 8 man boxes and slant plays on 3-1.

Don’t agree, at all. Carmichael has at least shown he can run an offense at some point in his career. Hackett is an absolute disaster, one of the worst HCs I’ve ever seen and a terrible OC.

That division is horrible and Carr hasn’t played well in the cold. Our O-Line is not horrible, that’s a huge exaggeration. Peat’s injury issues are clearly a problem but when he is on the field he’s fine, Ruiz was also very good last year. Also, if you took 3 of the better players out of any offense they’d probably struggle.

I've been saying since day 1 of the Carr stuff that a trade made zero sense....now we saw that it wasn't going to happen...because it didn't make sense.

Said that a long time ago...then Taysom Hill's lawyer jumped down my arse for making that assumption "with no basis on fact".

Anyway, I stand by it...what happened last year is exactly why Dalton was brought in...the "injury" gave them a cheap "in" but it was what they wanted from the day AD signed on.

Never said anything about their HC records to this point. The idea that they have a better chance to win with Carr than we do is something I strongly disagree with.

I think he’s a pretty good fit and I’m guessing the Saints do too. But if he goes with the Jets for more money, more power to him. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the feeling on Airline as well.
