Dos and Don’ts of Kitchen Fires (1 Viewer)

Awesome!

I’ve lived thru a kitchen fire....wish someone would have told me not to put water on a grease fire. Huge mistake. I’m on fire the house is on fire and the pan is on fire. I panicked and ran to the door throwing the fire pan away into the yard, unfortunately to land on my dog. What a day. Dog was ok. ?

Similar back in elementary school, (Laura Dearing) my School was leveled by the pepcon explosion in Henderson Nevada. I was eating lunch in the cafeteria when the roof collapsed.....and fire. All of us little kids had no clue...so when the choppers (military) landed on our playground we all just ran towards them...with teachers frantically trying to get us to run the other direction. We didn’t know if it was a Russian attack or what. Man good times lol, RIP to those who died tho. I’m still in awe of that explosion when I watch it on YouTube. Alas, I digress....

For anyone who cares and hasn’t seen it:

And we were in Vegas. Not even the same city. So powerful. The second shock wave is what got us.

It is. DO NOT FRY TURKEYS INSIDE ON A DECK OR IN A GARAGE.

Fry them outside over grass or sand. Make sure there is no nearby dry vegetation. Keep a 5 gallon bucket of sand nearby just in case.

Do not try to hose it out and make sure to never let your grease get too hot or overfill it and make it spill over the edge.

FIRST THINGS FIRST. Have a class “F”, fire extinguisher close by and properly tested for use!

A 5 gallon bucket of sand? Trust me, if a fire errupts, no one is going to get remotely close to the fire, to throw handfuls of sand over the fire. Once a fire has started, grab the extinguisher and PASS. Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep.

Be careful everyone

Especially those who are not traveling and cooking when you usually don't

My old toaster oven caught on fire, due to the build up of grease. Turned off the power and let it go out on it's own. The automatic shut off got stuck in the on position. Bought a new one for $40 on Amazon.

If you use a tiger tail (propane fire torch) to burn weeds, make sure you hose down all the trees, and wooded areas before. Take my word for it.

Say...I have a bunch of blueberries that I'm just itching to blend into something.

Anyone have any tips on how I can best spray them all around my kitchen, including the ceiling?
Fill the blender with em and leave the lid off.
