Draft at least two O-Linemen earlyish (2 Viewers)

Yeah, looks like where I was reading about him, I didn't go to the second paragraph. That's on me being in too much of a rush.

Cameron Williams is the guy who is more of a power gap prospect.

It's funny how much these draft profiles often differ from each other. Here's TDN's scouting report for Cameron Williams:

"In the run game, Williams’ reliance on athleticism, rather than raw power, makes him an ideal candidate for a zone-blocking scheme. At the snap, Williams showcases a quick first step, allowing him to beat defenders to a spot to execute reach blocks or cut off backside defenders. He is athletic and controlled enough to climb to the second level and engage linebackers and other second-level defenders effectively."

"Overall, Williams is an athletic offensive tackle with the tools and traits to be an early plug-and-play contributor as a pass protector. He is best suited for a zone-blocking scheme where his athleticism and quickness can be maximized."

Nope. I can get a tackle nearly anywhere…. Find me one of these guys…. Kelce, Kittle, LaPorta, Kincaid, Bowers, etc. I want a guy that’s too big for a DB and too fast for a LB.
TE's top-end payroll is the lowest in the NFL at 17 mil. Top-end tackles make over 10 mil more per year. Tells you all you need to know.

(I'm not including ST positions and FB)

If the saints have to rely on only drafting top tackles and guards then the problem is the saints themselves. Most other teams can make an oline work with multiple non1st pics. So either the coaches, the scheme or bad drafting. A top TE can help stopping the rush and help the online as the quick go to on a blitz.

If loomis wasn’t loomising every year, the 17vs 10 mil wouldn’t matter.

My biggest issue is we know what the saints do with picking 1st rounders in the draft, they regress each year they are here and never live up to their draft potential. Until they make some philosophical change that do a clean slate including loomis and anyone associated with the college scouting department there, until them I hope they draft playmakers every 1st round.

Very true. I'll need to start looking at a couple different sources. I also use PFF for grades and it has their respective grades for the schemes. Both of them have good grades in zone and gap. Williams has an 84 grade in Zone while Draft Buzz which is a good site for player information, has the comment I posted above.

One thing I try to look for this time of year on draft profiles is trying to figure out when they were written. I've noticed that a lot of site profiles are still the ones written last summer.

SISY.

Again. DNGAS.
If you can't meaningfully engage with the counter argument and just repeat the same old lines, then you're not having a debate. Let alone convincing anyone you're correct.

Stop being so binary about this. There are team needs all over and drafting a Bowers hasn't made the Raiders any better. They are ranked worse in both offensive points & yards and have scored less points per game in 2024 than they did in 2023.

And sadly the Raiders are our closest comparison in that mini-list of TE man crushes of yours. Every other team in that same list is very solid in the trenches on both sides of the ball. They are taking care of business.

How many points did we put up week 1 and 2 when the offensive line was healthy?

It has been healthy for weeks now off and on…. They need to play better. We don’t need more of them. We need the ones we have already invested in to play better. Like in weeks 1 and 2. I don’t deal in outliers.

It’s not a debate. Not sure why you think it is. I’m stating the facts.

This ain’t politics. This is football. Our offense can’t consistently score points because we are old, or outmanned, or constantly injured at every skill position.

It’s not debatable

We actually do need more of them and better quality at 2 starting positions and better depth.

Funny you like to point that they are healthy now, yet we are on WR5 - Street FAs.

We need to upgrade the skill positions, but not at the expense of the line. If we do that, then we are the Bears. I'd rather be the Lions who built their line first.

Well, in your case it's not a debate because you just keep repeating declarative statements.

And you haven't actually backed up your 'draft playmakers' assertion when it's been challenged (several times).

So it is debatable, you're just not debating, whether you're unwilling or unable to is redundant.
