Draft at least two O-Linemen earlyish (2 Viewers)

What part of we need BOTH don't you understand?

The first 2 weeks weren't an anomaly, they literally forking happened.
It was half of an anomaly. We played two bad teams that had no film on us. Yes it happened, but that wasn’t sustainable for an entire season. It sure would’ve been nice to see how our offense would’ve faired healthy (for the most part) for the entirety. What we do know, is that this offense is not sustainable with how it was constructed barring injuries

I rarely disagree with your take on things, but there's little difference between the Saints and the Lions approach:-

Taylor Decker LT, 1st
Graham Glasgow LG, 3rd (drafted same year as they took Decker in the first)
Frank Ragnow C, 1st
Kevin Zeitler RG, FA (former 1st round pick)
Penei Sewell RT, 1st

The difference is that the Lions are doing it better. All those skill position players they have are enabled by that line. They made Jamaal Williams into a TD machine, here he just runs into brick walls.
Has Det drafted well? Yes. But what everyone constantly overlooks is that they had 19, yes 19 top 100 picks over the last 5 yrs , including a #2,#3,#7 picks in the draft. AND they got Goff in the Stafford trade. Do you know how much easier it makes it to hit on picks when you have that kind of fire power??

Agreed. We need better depth and to upgrade our skill positions. AK is doing AK things, missing time and wearing down at the end of the season. Olave is/should be done as his next concussion will be his 6th. Who knows how Shaheed will be when he comes back. The TEs are mid. No telling what TH7 will be when he comes back.

We need a lot, but the cupboard isn't empty. We have Fuaga, McCoy, Penning and KM who runs hard when healthy. KAJr might have earned a roster spot going forward, he's young and has size. We have Means who was looking good before he got injured, but none of those guys are stars. The skill positions need some decent draft capital put into them.

Every mock simulator I do, I address the skill positions with talent and the line, both sides. This is the draft to build the foundation for a QB.

Plenty of successful teams build their teams with QB and Skill Positions then fill in everywhere else. We have refused to do either. That’s why we are where we are. We have invested in our trenches every year to no avail. It’s time to start drafting some Jamar Chases, some Justin Jefferson’s, some Josh Allen’s, some Lamar Jackson’s, some Saquan Barkleys, some Bjan Robinsons, some anything and anyone that we can build a young offensive core around.
LOL Barkley runs behind maybe the best OL in the league. Robinson behind the #6 OL . Allen has the #8 OL. You're idea that a successful team can just trot out a OL and DL of UDFAs is just preposterous

I agree the last post, now is not the time to grab a QB. We have to put a foundation in for a young guy to come in and succeed. Look at the Panthers. They drafted the QB before they built a unit around him and he has struggled. I never understood the Ruiz pick to begin with, we drafted a center to play guard when there were other guards who were better still on the board, such as Robert Hunt. We need skill players badly at the TE position and durable, big bodies WR who can grab those contested catches.

Are you suggesting continuing to trot out high premium Oline picks, while playing late rd/UDFA skill position players? Bc that won’t cut it

Other teams have done much better with less. No matter who they've put in there, the issue persists. I'm hoping the next head coach fixes this mess and get this line to play up to their potential. Tired of the revolving door of lineman only to watch them struggle year after year no matter who they put in there.

Essentially they milked the Rams for Stafford, that's not their fault for taking advantage of them. Also, a good number of those O linemen I quoted were taken well after pick #7 in the first. Sewell is the prime blue chip pick.

Of course I'm suggesting neither, but if towelman had his way it would be all UDFAs on both OL and DL and all of our 1st and 2nd day picks would be WRs TEs RBs

My point is it's 10x easier to draft well when you have 19 top 100 picks over 5 yrs and and Decker , Ragnow and Sewell were all 1st rd picks

I posted awhile back about the draft position of Oline for the league’s best teams, who have been the better teams for a few years now. They don’t have premium players across their Oline. They focus on putting the ball into the endzone. It’s an arms race to stack talent with skill position players. We are severely behind the 🎱

We had 14 (or something like that) top 100 picks the past 5 years. Maybe we should’ve not done all of that trading away or drafted better. Just a thought.

I know no one wants to hear this, but there is truly only one starting offensive line position open - left guard. We will need to live with the remaining four for a bit and hope for improvement.

Depth should be addressed though.

This point falls on deaf ears but it can't be ignored. It should be addressed in FA too, assuming Loomis hasn't completely screwed over our ability to do anything in FA. Then draft a guard and tackle in the mid rounds to develop and add depth.

A run game and possession WR/TE can be a young QB's best friends. We need to start putting the pieces in place to give a chance for them to be successful because right now it's ugly.
