Draft Jaxson Dart Ole Miss (1 Viewer)

Late second at best for him. This is a very weak QB draft class.
And there’s the problem with drafting a QB in 2025. The Saints would be far better off getting supporting players in my view. Let’s just ride with Carr, Haener, and Rattler for now, again given the dearth of QB talent in this draft.

The draft room should start with the careful evaluation of the quality of each position’s prospects. Are the edge rushers really good prospects? If not look elsewhere. Maybe the wide receivers are really good.

There’s actually an advantage when the roster is this poor. You can choose BPA over and over and improve your team. Even if you wind up with three linebackers in the draft, for a ridiculous example, now you have depth and/or trade capital. I hope something like that doesn’t happen, but this business of drafting for need leads to reaches like Davenport and Turner.

I'm not sure that there is a franchise QB in this draft and I tend to think there is not. But, I think if the team thinks there is one you take him or even trade up to get him. If not, take BPA.

But, more importantly, I think you have to let the next head coach make the QB decision whether it be keeping Carr, getting rid of Carr, drafting a QB in this draft, starting Rattler, or starting Haener.

Can't pull a Bryce Young/Josh Rosen on this one. We need to trade that early pick for all it's worth for future value because we're tearing it all down this offseason. We're not going to be able to properly evaluate a QB and with as mid as this class is anyway we'd be completely wasting a top 5 pick.

Trade it to a desperate team, collect ammo for the next two years while hopefully building a young roster around whoever the next guy is going to be in '26 or '27

Agree, especially with the first paragraph.

Please explain why? I getting really sick of people hating on this kid for no reason. He is on a winning football team, great deep ball, 73.3 completion percentage, and plays behind the worse OL in college football. I really don't get it; he is a first-round quarterback and would bring excitement to the team.
There’s not a humble bone in that kid’s body. He’s entitled and throws teammates under the bus.

Jaxson could be a good NFL qb, but he's not going to come in immediately and change things. He has steadily improved at Ole Miss. He's not the interception waiting to happen that Corral was, but he locks in on his first read too hard. If he doesn't like that read, it takes him longer than it should to process it and throw to the check down. You all saw that in the LSU game. He was sacked over and over, not because he was pressured quickly, it was mainly from him holding onto the ball too long. Now, I would rather that than to throw a pick, but still. He is mobile, I think he will run in the 4.6-7 range, he has a strong arm and can make all the throws and his deep ball is really good. You saw that this past weekend in Fayetteville. I think he's a guy that be be like Jordan Love, sit and learn for a couple years and then come in seasoned and be a good player. As much as I like him, he's not our answer.

We need a franchise guy. I made a post a few years ago talking about how all the playoff teams now have these young dynamic guys that they drafted. Mahommes, Herbert, Allen, Hurts, Tua, Lawrence and the list goes on. Those are the teams that are going to be good going forward. We hit gold with Drew, I don't think that can be replicated and we haven't drafted a first rounder since Archie. The bad thing is, I just don't see that guy in this year's draft. Ward is all over the place, I think he gets by on arm strength alone and he plays really inferior competition. You put him in the SEC and I don't see the same success. The only qb worth a high pick to me right now is Rourke out of Indiana and he's a mid rounder like Pickett.
You are correct on him holding the ball too long and not being able to read the field, but he cannot make all of the throws. He’s inaccurate and doesn’t hit receivers in stride, and he is particularly bad with the deep ball. He doesn’t have great arm strength.

In an ideal word there is a QB someone covets and we can leverage the likely top 3-5 pick for additional picks this and 2026. This team is a few years away from truly being top tier again. We need an influx of talent.. look what Texans did last 2 years vs what the colts and Panthers did....

Absolutely the correct plan!

the next two years you invest in both lines. Build some continuity along the front. People may not like it but you let Carr, Rattler or Haener lead the way and be middle/low end of the pack. You invest majority of your money in the rest of the team and strike it with the best option at qb in the 26/27 draft. It wont be easy on the fan base, but you have to get out from under our current cap bill. Build the team first before worrying about a qb. Honestly I wouldnt even look at QB till 27. Unless you have a shot at a sure fire #1 or #2 pick in 26. 2025 remove qb from your wish list.
Build a great line with subpar talent everywhere else win 7 games and be too far out to get the qb you want no we spent the last 5/6 years “ building the lines “ it’s time to get playmakers and game changers “ just my opinion

If you just want to take a shot at guys with talent who are raw and need to be developed then you take Ward or Milroe. Both have more talent than Dart.

I honestly think Ward might be a guy taking a shot at even if you have to trade up a bit to get him. He's far from ready for the NFL, but we are in rebuild mode so you might as well YOLO on a young QB with huge upside. And if he doesn't work out, maybe Rattler will.
I really like Milroe, I think he’ll make the transition to the NFL. Most of my friends disagree with me. I like his arm strength and size.
