Elon Musk makes $43 Billion offer for private buyout of Twitter (4 Viewers)

Me too, I've lost around 800 followers on the cesspool since the 'election', so I've spent most of my time on bluesky, it's pretty easy to grow there, I went from a few over 100 followers last week to over 1k as of today...
it's weird - as active as i am here, i'm a complete tourist on all other SM sites
i never post my own stuff and i very rarely comment on any other posts

I still dont post anything- but have, as of late, started to reply/interact with some of those i follow if the topic is interesting.

I mainly do this for just another perspective, thought/idea on particular topic or news story etc.

Id love to talk about insurance, but that is such a hot-button topic that can really dredge up some emotional and angry replies, i tend to let those go by. Plus we have a very strict SM policy where i work, so instead of having to tread carefully, i simply dont tread lol

I was drawn into a group of like-minded ppl in a bonkers twitter thread of ~50 ppl and it's the only reason I'm still there, we still do our own thing there, most of 'em are now on bluesky too, so we're trying to figure out how to start a thread similar to the one we have at the cesspool...

Same here, I just lurk elsewhere for the most part.

I have noticed quite a few people who set up threads and bluesky accounts way back and either never started or posted briefly have started posting recently, which is great, because I stopped using Twitter ages ago.

The Saints official account still hasn't posted on Threads since August 2023 though!

that's a shame because I've really been looking for a place to discuss insurance

Yeah, the other sites will give you multiple format options for linking. This one doesn't. I would think the developer for the software here would need to change the coding to allow for a link thumbnail or description for that format. Not sure whether Andrus can get them to do it.

@Andrus
Yes, it's just html according to their guide (https://bsky.social/about/blog/post-embeds-guide), which offers the helpful workaround for sites that don't support it, like Substack, of "taking a screenshot of Bluesky posts and linking the post URL instead." It should technically be possible for XenForo, not sure if anyone's implemented it yet though.

There is also a workaround, where you put a 'c' in front of 'bsky.app', e.g. with @St. Widge's Underhill post:

But clearly it only kind of works, in that it's displaying it, but not as it would be on the site/app. I think it's a third-party site that basically proxies the content, same as fxtwitter.com/fixupx.com, to allow embedding posts where it otherwise doesn't work (like on Discord).

Thanks. That makes sense.

Crap - Underhill is on Bluesky? He's nonexistent on Threads.

I got a Bluesky early invite last year (2023) and didn't do it, I should have.

Same. (Working on my Gen Z lingo.) I occasionally reply to stuff on Twitter but even that is rare for me. Not sure I have ever posted anything of my own.

Underhill just went over there less than a week ago. He still posts on Twitter for now, but I think he is moving away from it.

Lol. You have more followers on BluSky than Underhill does right now.

Someone asked Underhill if he could try to convince the Saints official account to start an account on BlueSky.

I think I'm going to get a BlueSky account but I can never decide if I should use my real name or not. So many weirdos out there that I often want to avoid it, but it's also kind of foolish to hide. So, I'm still torn.
