Falcons signed Kirk Cousins to 4-year/180M, $100 million guaranteed (1 Viewer)

Those comments aren't inconsistent. He does have a little bit of upside, but even his best isn't above mid-level NFL starter and not good enough to carry a team to make it good on his own.

You're overreacting and failing to comprehend as usual.

Youre talking about a guy who has been in the NFL for 10 years, under numerous systems and is still 15 games under .500 as a starter. But we can keep talking about his upside until he is on Medicare.

He hasnt played in a communist system, maybe thatll be the one that works.

What has Carr done to prove hes better than Kirk? All the Saints are going to be able to do this offseason is go backwards while the Falcons have taken a bunch of steps forward already going from Ridder to Kirk. Not sure how you get you have to be a pessimist to look at the facts that Kirk Cousins has always been a better and more productive player than Carr. It's just facts.
The Saints took a step forward from Andy Dalton to Derek Carr.

Thank you for writing!

He's been up and down his entire 10 year career. But, he has had some better years than others. For instance, he was much better in Gruden's system with Gruden calling the plays. He wasn't consistently at that level here last year. But, maybe KK can get him to play to his prior level on a more consistent basis and, in that sense, he has some small amount of upside.

I'm not saying he's suddenly going to become top 10. He is who he is, but in the right system he can be better than he was in the first half of last year. If Carr can get in the range of how he was for the last few games consistently then that will play and that is his upside. Regardless, he's a mediocre QB at best. Which is also true of Cousins and Mayfield. Although, Mayfield might have some real upside if last year wasn't a fluke. Cousins is who he is at age 35 soon to be 36.

Cousins puts up numbers, but he's not a winner.
This is accurate.

Incredibly accurate passer, but he's a thinking QB. He's risk averse in times when he shouldn't be.

The Falcons will win the games they should. Lose most of the games they should lose, and they'll maybe win their wild card game, but that's it.
If the Falcons have a #1 defense, Kirk would be good enough, but getting that to align is tough when your QB draws that much money.

Kirk's 2023 season was going along well (stat wise) until he got injured:

Extrapolated out that is 36 TDs and 10 Ints

So close to meme-worthy. Looks like the contract is back loaded by 20M for the first year (25M vs 45M AAV).
