Falcons signed Kirk Cousins to 4-year/180M, $100 million guaranteed (1 Viewer)

No it doesn't. If Cousins comes back from injury at 36 as good as he was, it makes it a 3 way tie with Atlanta, Tampa, and New Orleans. Kirk Cousins, who is in the same range of QB as Carr and Mayfield, isn't going to suddenly make Atlanta good. It just means Atlanta has reached the level of mediocre that the Saints and Bucs have already achieved.
right, we're still a step ahead of ATL by having a totally revamped O to suit our QB

Let's put a bit of perspective in this thread.

Cousins is a good QB, but he isn't and hasn't been a bigtime talent in the league.

He has a 78-70-2 record in his career, which is respectable, and he's 1-4 in playoff games, which isn't good.

He's 16-47 (.254) against teams with a winning record in his career.

And he's coming off a major injury as well, plus he'll turn 36 in Training Camp.

The world isn't ending because the Falcons signed him.
Yep. Not counting ATL money, but they pretty much signed Derek Carr.

Run a compare on just about every stat from top to bottom and it's the same guy.

I wish nothing but Bad luck to em! Cam can start a new sack count on him.

Anybody got a breakdown on comparing Carr, Mayfield and now Cousins’ deals?

You'll never guess who he beat for that one playoff win LOL.

I agree he's not exactly Johnny Unitas but he's performed well against DA-coached defenses, and is inarguably a massive upgrade for ATL.

They have a pretty good O-line and good weapons to put around him. It's an overpay but it's a good move for them.

I just can't help but note how eerily close this is to what was said when the Saints singed Carr last year.

Pretty much .. Cousins is Derek Carr, he’s Dak Prescott.. slightly above average, and can do some damage with a good team and coaching staff.. i was very happy to see this news, b/c i feared ATL would be in the mix to draft Jayden Daniels from LSU and then I wouldn’t be able to root for him .. hell, id have been more worried if they had traded for Justin Fields, since at least he has upside .

I wouldn’t call him trash but we had 2 years to win a garbage division with all of our veteran talent and did nothing but let Tamp lay in wait and slide in the playoffs. If we can’t win the division from here on out it’s our own fault.

I’m confused. Are we crowning their arses or not?

Cousins max value of 4yr/188M. The 90M in '24-25 with only 10M guaranteed in '26 means it could be a 2yr/100M deal or a 3yr/135M. Carr's deal is 3yr/100M with a 50M 4th yr. Baker's deal is basically a 2yr/60M deal with a 40M 3rd yr.
