Falcons signed Kirk Cousins to 4-year/180M, $100 million guaranteed (1 Viewer)

A high percentage of players coming off this injury ends up with one on the opposite leg or some other leg injury
Maybe not as high as you think, and especially with today’s surgical procedures and treatments.

Dan Marino tore his in the early 90s at age 32 and came back to play 6 more seasons with all but the last of those at a high level. They were still cutting guys wide open back then.

I mean Marino was an actual statue in the pocket so he didn't really need an Achilles anyway. But, sure Cousins could come back fine and he is a solid QB that's better than anything they had on the roster. But he's also not a difference maker and, like Carr, is pretty much so a commitment to mediocrity at the QB position. Could be enough to win the South, but I doubt it's much more. And he probably only has 2 or 3 good years left at most. I'd be much more concerned if they got one of the top young QBs in this draft. Cousins is a stop gap that isn't taking them anywhere long term.

Cool…There’s 3-4 sacks for Cam right there. An INT or 2 a piece for Adebo & Honey Badger. QBs like Cousins dont really worry me too much. It’s QBs who can run that kill us. Cousins is literally Matt Ryan. The dude is soft & makes bonehead decisions vs pressure in any of its forms. Pass rush will key, especially vs the Falcons this year.

Let’s get Cam to 3/4 sacks for the year before we start penciling him in for this🤣

Can't believe people here think this is a good signing at all. People's irrational hatred of DA and DC are showing. Kirk is 35, coming off a fairly nasty (and late) ACL injury, and learning a new offense with new pieces. It'll be a full season before they see any results. Another year older.

He had JJ, far and away the best WR in the league, and looked below average nearly all the time. London and Pitts are no JJ lol.

Agree. And I like the guy.

I think some are underestimating this move. Falcons have one of the best run games in the league and Cousins is really good at play action. If he drops back 40 times and we know he is throwing, that would be one thing, but it’s not the case at all, imo. And Nick stole my post from a while back with his tweet.

So if Kyle Pitts doesn't light the world on fire this year, is it finally safe to say he was highly overrated?
Pitts had 1,000 rec yards as a rookie with Ryan as his QB. His numbers slumped when Atlanta took a step back at QB the next two seasons. Cousins probably gets Pitts back into rookie form, but I’m hoping it doesn’t happen.

It's a solid signing and that has nothing to do with hatred our own disfunctional regime. Yes, he's coming off an injury, but it's not like he's an RB or WR. Last time I checked, Carr is in the same boat. Morris is actually mirroring us. A defensive coach with a mid-tier QB.

I’m confused. Are we crowning their arses or not?
The pessimists are. You could reverse the names and it’d be the same brand of complaining.

This is the most Falcons thing they could have done, and now we don’t have to worry about them for another handful of years.

Bijan Robinson is smiling. He now has solid QB play. He won't be the focus anymore.

Our rival got stronger today. I know the contract hurts them in the future, and that's pretty sweet.

But, if Baker Mayfield can ruin the Derek Carr tour, You know Kirk can easily do the same.

Basically I'm saying I lost a lot of money printing T-shirts for Derek Carr's first season in New Orleans.

"Carr-mageddon 2023" TM.

It didn't sell like I thought it was.
