For anyone who says Carr is just a stat padder and don’t win: (23 Viewers)

Never stated otherwise.

You characterizing it that way doesn't make it so.

Already addressed this.

Never said otherwise.

Slightly more wins than losses with a pretty lousy set of circumstances. But hey, since injuries and circumstances are irrelevant to you, we'll go with your excuses mantra.

I'm not opposed to that if Rattler has a good preseason.

Works for me.

yep, no question. You've

Not enough picks to cover all of that, but we can start in that direction, sure.

Not opposed to trading down. Depends on whos on the board at the time.

Maybe, depends on whether the new coaching staff wants to run it back with Carr or go a different direction. I'd say the odd are Carr will be back, but never know.

Doubtful. He'll either be on his way to another team or he's shut the doubters up. So there won't be much debate by then.
Last word huh. So. You never said otherwise, got it. Excuses were never made for Carr, but you mention excuses again(injuries, circumstances) The thing is every season the circumstances/injuries happen. So Carr has developed a pattern of this. It's going to continue. Everything else we basically agree on. Carr will be here. He has no incentive to go elsewhere. We would have to cut him.
Well, the Raiders have done diddly poo since Carr left, so they can keep arguing over being mediocre. :9:
They beat our butt in the dome. Carr is fortunate to have missed the game to prevent him losing to all 32 teams.

Well, you responded to another of my posts before I said that. So, i changed my mind. It happens.

Carr has developed a pattern of causing injuries and bad coaching every season? Lol. Nice logic.

And if he doesn't have a good season, he'll be cut, yes. If he has a great season and we make the playoffs, then we'll have to decide if we want to continue or not and would be a tpugher call.

Eh, the offense was terrible in that game. Carr averaged 24 points per game this season. Raiders scored 25. Would have been a close game most likely.

Yes they actually did something good, moved on from Carr. It might take a while but standing pat hoping a (then) ten year vet would suddenly get it or attempt to start solving it?

The results weren’t great this year but taking a chance as opposed to paying a Vet like an elite QB with non-elite results?

Easy choice to make.

A decade of either underperformance or injuries is just a case of bad luck or coaching(other people's fault.) That's what you are saying, right? That Derek Carr is the unluckiest quarterback in the history of the league. It's not a reflection on him or a pattern? He was brought in to be the final piece to the puzzle. He was brought in to be more than Andy Dalton. He is Andy Dalton. We need to move on ASAP.

They are actually very close:

Carr is a top 18 QB that shows glimpes of top 10 QB moments when everything is perfect around him, and glimpes of bottom 25 QB play when things are not. Problem is, it's the NFL and more often than not, everything isn't going to be great so you're stuck w/ a QB who more often than not gives you top 20 QB play.

Exactly what was said when he was the Raiders QB. That is (one of) the most maddening thing about him: inconsistency.

When he’s on he’s very good. Problem is after the Washington game in 2017 he’s been found out. If a Defense is patient they will eventually get him to commit a mistake. Sure he’ll have some bombs, win some late games etc. But for the long term? Just sit and wait for something bad to happen.

Good for them. They can keep being mediocre. :9:

And fwiw, he's not being paid like an elite qb. Iirc he's not even top 10 salary-wise.

This.

Stop into a Raider forum and it was like Groundhog Day. It’s literally the same excuses as to why it’s not his fault. People are saying the same thing Raider fans argued over multiple thousand page threads from 2017 onwards.

Unfortunately for you guys your FO stupidity extended him, thus prolonging the agony.
The Raiders were sorry for the decade before Derek Carr got there, they were sorry the decade he was there, they’ll be sorry the next decade after his departure

No, by your logic, you're implying he's causing the injuries and poor coaching. I'm saying he didn't cause that, and most Saints fans understand that Carr is far down the list in terms of why the team is losing. They were 0-6 when Carr didn't start. And he was above .500 and top five in QBR in the games he started. The team's season got wrecked when McCoy and later Hill got hurt.
That Derek Carr is the unluckiest quarterback in the history of the league.
Not really,, I mean, several QB have gone though similar long stretches and have managed to turn things around and had good, winning seasons towards the end of their careers.
It's not a reflection on him or a pattern?
He's part of it,, sure,, how much is on him is debatable. That's why we have the discussions.
He was brought in to be the final piece to the puzzle.
We weren’t close to 1 player away when he was acquired. So no.
He was brought in to be more than Andy Dalton. He is Andy Dalton.
e He's clearly played better than Dalton did when he was with the Saints. Dalton really hasnt't been the same since he left Cincy.
We need to move on ASAP.
Sure, but that's not going to happen until next season. I thought we agreed on that?

the only thing this team gets out of having carr at QB is a lower draft pick. he's not taking this team to the playoffs. he is what he is.

Not worth a new thread but......

Doesn’t surprise me. I swear I don’t understand what games some people are watching. Carr has always looked solid to me here. It’s like people have their minds made up about him going in and magnify every single thing he does wrong to unreasonable levels, as if other QBs of his ilk aren’t making the same errors every week.

Carr is efficient and you can win with him. But like most QBs like him, he needs help.

They need a scapegoat, and the QB will always be the first player to get it.

The most surprising Carr stat - only 8 sacks in 10 games with this OL. That's a league best sack/att at 2.86%.
