For anyone who says Carr is just a stat padder and don’t win: (19 Viewers)

If Derek Carr is the best QB option we have, we will never win the division, make the playoffs, or be relevant.
Put Josh Allen, Mahomes, Stafford behind this Saints OL, Zero WRs to throw to, sub par tight ends that cant get separation or YAC, hurt/old Rbs and lets see how many Ws they get. Team sport, team around Carr is hurt or below average.

You know why judging wins/losses as a QB stat is bad? He drove down the field late in the game against Philly and Atlanta and gave the Saints the lead... He was on the sideline watching the team lose.
There’s obviously a lot of impact on wins and losses by the QB as they have more impact than any other position on the field, but I do agree it still is a team game and not solely on the QB.

Digging deeper into that Eagles game. It was at home. We scored only 12 points. We had pretty much our entire roster (or key players) healthy for that game. Our defense played great. Carr threw for 142 yards. Which I believe may have been our lowest output of the year, had 1 touchdown, 1 interception, and a QB Rating of 69.1 in that game. Our defense held an excellent Eagles team to 15 points and Carr couldn’t help lead us to a win. That’s not good enough.

You'd think he'd have more wins averaging 24 points per game, which would be about 10th best in the league. Kansas City averages 24 points per game. But of course their defense is the difference.
Interesting enough, we also averaged 24 points/game last year (and ended the year 9th in scoring). We may not have had the IOL injuries, but we also had a rotating group of players up front for most of the year until they settled with Peat at LT.

Carr is simply not a franchise QB. Just for clarification, a franchise player can typically carry the team on their side of the ball a significant way. Brees, Kamara, Davis and Cam in their younger years, these guys immensely propelled their side of the ball and could carry the team.

Carr can’t do that. He’s an above average QB that has to have a good game plan and good peices around him to succeed consistently. When either of those are not present, he sinks.

We’re simply spoiled by franchise QB’s. We had Brees for 15 years. We watched Burrow blossom into one at LSU, then We watched Jayden Daniels blossom into another one 4 years later.

Us Saints fans who also know or watch LSU are just horribly spoiled with QB to the point we forget what an average QB really looks like, and we’ve forgotten what a franchise player means because it’s become so common for us. We forgot how franchise players are uncommon, and how franchise QBs specifically, are rare.
The problem is y’all are spoiled and LOUD and act like stockholders instead of fans. Wanting a better team is reasonable, acting entitled to one is not. Social media has upped lots of people’s expression of their entitlement-driven opinions to an embarrassing level.

I’d like for the Saints to be better too but I’m not throwing temper tantrums and headhunting the people in charge one-by-one demanding the team performs to the same measure that I make them on those Madden Football games.

The Eagles are a better team and that sort of thing just happens sometimes. It was a defensive battle that came down to who had the ball last. The Saints have won some of those and lost others. Prime Drew Brees was good for one of those per season. I’m reminded of 2010 Browns/Cardinals, 2011 Rams, 2015 Texans. Wait three of those teams were worse than the Saints. Carry on

No doubt this year’s Saints team was bad and injuries were a huge problem, but you’re still just putting conjecture out there. I can do that too:

Put Carr on the Bills, Chiefs, or Rams this year and his clearly visible limitations likely mean none of those teams are contenders.

The Saints will not win the division, make the playoffs or be relevant for at least 5 years+ but Derek Carr is not at the top of the list of problems. The Saints and Panthers are fighting it out for the least talented team in the NFC, we are $50m+ over the salary cap, we have no coach and we are only drafting 10th. These issues are much bigger than Carr.

That said Carr will probably only be ranked 15-20th at his position next year, and sadly that maybe the highest ranked player we have if McCoy and Olave are not healthy.
He's also not the top of our solutions either. He's a waste of time. Rather develop Rattler and keep drafting QBs until we find one.

OK, So this years excuse is OL and WR. Last years was Pete Carmichael. What's next years annual Derek Carr excuse going to be? He never wins but always has an excuse.

Still won’t win a game on his own and will probably throw it out of bounds on the last play of the game on a go ahead drive. He is who he is. A middle of the pack(generous) QB, game manager. Nothing more than that. Good enough to keep the team mediocre and settle for a bad draft pick.
Then just look at him as a bridge QB

To do what? Finish with a .500 record?
Most likely but we have to smartly eat up his cap hits. Who knows maybe we end up with only 3 wins and then move on from him and get a high pick. Rebuilding will not be done in one year most likely three. I would rather not throw Rattler to the wolves in his second year. Having him regress will not help him.

Look. I just want to rebuild. I can take Rattlers growing pains, or whatever rookie they bring in to build around. I can deal with a young, talented building team taking their lumps. But god I’m tired of this drug out path to a slow death this team is on right now. Take the lumps and move beyond. Give us something to look forward to instead of this garbage of the last 2 years

How many playoff appearances has he had in his career?
Why don't you do your own research and see what the Raiders defense was ranked in each year he was there. I can tell you this, they were never ranked higher than about 22nd in the league and in a few seasons they were 30-32nd. It's a team game.

Again its a TEAM GAME, like you said. Maybe if we wanted to start pinning wins and losses on a single player, we can blame the Clown (hmmm was it Adebo?) That grabbed an Atlanta receiver halfway down the field for a 35 yard penalty to set up their game winning FG. Or maybe blame Grupe in those games where he kept shanking FGs all game? Or remember how many times the offense got a lead only to watch the defense leave guys wide open downfield to blow a game?
Yeah but let's put it all on the QB1 for every loss

Or you can learn football before typing.
