Ginsberg with Tim Ryan and Pat Kirwan (3 Viewers)

Just listened to it and wow, he came out firing against Goodell, no walking on eggshells there. I hope they keep bringing him on the radio, we need both sides of the story to be out there finally.

This was a good interview. Ginsberg held nothing back except the strategy. He pretty much calls out Goddell for jumping the gun and failing to find fact in his sources.

I always thought it would be Bobby McCray. He played as hard as he could and after the SB run and after he got married we cut him. Then we signed him to a much lower contract number right before pre-season. Then before the season started we cut him. I thought it was because he played through the whistle and had to many personal fouls.

This is a guy who has a reason to be disgruntled.

Consider how "powerful" the statement from Hargrove was supposed to be. The "independent" counsel implied that it pretty well tied up the entire case for her. Then it comes out, dated in mid-April, and there's no admission he took part in the so-called bounties, no mention of players at all, only two coaches who have since denied they ever said what they are purported to have said. The statement only says the coaches told him what to say and doesn't even say outright that what they told him to say was a lie.

And then Hargrove himself comes out and says the NFL "grossly mischaracterized" his words.

Not exactly the "kill shot" the NFL was hoping for.. :jpshakehead:

I know that no lawsuit will be filed until the appeal is ruled upon but how long do you think it's gonna take for a court case to go to trial??? I don't know if I'm asking the right question.......would or could there be a fast track to get this resolved before the season?

Not a lawyer but, I would think if it has enough teeth to go to court. The players at least would be allowed to play pending the hearing, like starcaps

I was able to hear the interview live. I was grinning from ear to ear. FINALLY, there is someone saying it just didn't happen, and the radio personalities are agreeing. One thing that interested me was that he said when all the rumors started flying that Vilma was offering $10K for taking Warner and Favre out of the game, he and Vilma contacted the NFL to ask to be heard. Goodell refused to release to them any information, which pretty well prevented them from any rebuttal. I mean, how can you rebut what you don't even know about? I got the sense from Ginsberg that Goodell didn't want to talk to them at all.

I don't know where this will lead, but because Goodell is preventing Vilma from earning his living, it could very well end up in court. Ginsberg made some very strong comments about how the commissioner is backed into a corner and the only reason he isn't releasing information is that he knows it is weak. This is something that can keep a player out of consideration for the HOF. While I don't see Vilma as HOF material exactly, he at least should be mentioned as a candidate. This nixes that entirely because it is a large blemish on his career.

Goodell is between a rock and a hard place--unless he is able to present some rock solid evidence that these players were a part of it.

I heard it live too, and I was really smiling hearing this as well. He also said that he was not at liberty to talk about their strategy, but then immediately said that this is as important an issue as there is to Vilma other than the birth of his child... Tim and Pat echoed that his reputation was at stake. Sounded like he was saying that they are in this to completely clear Vilma's name...

I guess that means our coaches punishments are pretty much set in stone then

I heard Ginsberg's interview with Deke B. Sharp guy and he's talking in absolutes about his client's innocence and talking loudly. Someone is misrepresenting their case (lying). This is getting very interesting.

I think they are, if we are lucky (and I don't think it is the case) we may get our second rounder next year.

Reality of the matter is that the team, Loomis, Williams, Payton and Vitt didn't have the chance to defend themselves, based on the sword of the Commisioner's powers. They may get some salary back, but that is it.

The NFL won't accept having a weak case, actually, they are making more intense the heat against the team on their network.

The consequences of this is the players losing all confidence on the objectivity of the Commissioner's office, and this can translate on some owners too, but not the majority.

And if the NFL's case is total sham, then what does Goodell do about rectifying his confiscation of the Saints' second round draft pick? Suspensions can be rescinded, and fine money can be returned, but they can't have a draft "do over."

Nice work, Roger. Your ridiculously outsized penalties could be your downfall. No wonder Goodell is scared of letting this get into the courts.

Another thought, How does he rectify the suspension of the coaches if this comes clean after the 2012 season?

That's why the penalties should have been fines exclusively. Goodell never considered that he could be wrong. Suspending coaches has already been detrimental to the Saints. They had to spend time and energy figuring out what to do instead of concentrating on their jobs, particularly signing Drew Brees.

I'm convinced that the delay in signing him has everything to do with the uncertainty and turmoil. They still don't know how the salary cap will be affected. It's almost impossible to come up with contract numbers when you don't know how much money you have. This will be a massive contract, and the last thing the team needs is a fine for violating the cap. Goodell has already unjustly fined Washington and Dallas for cap violations, and I believe he fined the Saints a smaller amount as well. So, he won't hesitate to fine the Saints again. He seems to enjoy doing it so much.

I wish Saints could get back their 2nd round pick from 2012 for 2013 if Goodell admits he made a mistake
