Good analysis of Carr (1 Viewer)

I think the staff actually thought that DC4 could fill in for Brees, and not miss too many beats.

Really? I don't think anyone on the staff would be that delusional and honestly thought that.....

With adequate protection Carr is a good QB, and if the offense around him improves he is a more than adequate bridge QB for a few years, but I don't really think he is a long term solution (meaning more than 2-3 years)....

In fairness, anyone replacing (a healthy) Brees will miss many beats in comparison....

Their actions spoke a different story. They went all in on Dc before the Raiders even let him go, officially. Then they kept the same OC that trained with Drew Brees, then taught DC4 the Drew Brees playbook. They may have tweaked it a little. But regardless, they said DC4, you're our next DB. Ill circle back to what ive been saying, I think they only looked at the stats and the probowls and the 4th Qtr comebacks, and the fact he seemed like a great teammate (the video of him doing his best Terrell Owens impresonation, but its was "thats my team" and not "QB". Regardless, that sold me as well. Then they said, we need to look no further, he's our guy. Btw, im not criticising Carr, there are many that fall short of DB and he'd (Carr) would probably admit that himself.

I don't see it that way. After Sean left, they took a big swing on Watson who was seen as the best available QB on the market. After they didn't get him they pivoted back to Jameis. Last year they went after Carr because he was seen as the best available QB on the market. If they would have missed on him, I have no doubt that they would have taken a swing at Cousins this year.

I don't think it has anything to do with Brees or DA/Carr relationship or anything other than trying to get the best of what was available. Whether that was a wise strategy is certainly debatable.

We will see what happens this year, but our DB? I doubt they honestly thought that.....and if they did, they are delusional.....

I'm not criticizing Carr either, he is what he is, an above average to good QB, that I feel is not in the same class as Brees as a leader or QB.....there are very, very few that are....

I was never sold on anything other than they could have done much worse than Carr as a bridge QB.....
