I’ll be honest in that I do not know who we will take and do not have favorite player to put on here as my very own personal desire like many do but the facts are we are much better at picking offensive players in the first round then defensive players.

I think we will go the safe route and get a guard that will take over for Peat. I don’t know who will be there that we take but we will wait until 29 to get him. We would do best with a 5th year option on a lineman.

I can’t see DA, even though Ireland is the scout and Loomis the GM, letting them use the first rounder on a guy who’d be a backup-just-in-case-of-injury OL. All the starter spots are taken outside of DT, DE, Nickel/Slot CB, WR2/3, and TE (prioritized in that order imo), and DA could be fighting for his job.

I predict it’ll be one of those spots w pba. They’ll try to trade up to #20 if a DT they covet most is there. I think they could do the same if a DE they love is there too, but those are the only spots that I think have a chance of being traded up for. Look out for a 6’8” 280lbs DL from a Canadien college maybe.

Assuming the Saints locked a trade partner in the 18/20 range, I can see the Saints trading up to pick Lukas Van Ness.

The price to get there scares me though.

supposedly saints think this draft is deep at DT and DE so I’m guessing we won’t draft 1 of those in the first round. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if we got hit with a curveball and took someone like O’cyrus, Jack Campbell, or Darnell Washington, the defensive end drop off from pick 29 to 40 is basically zero, there’s like 7 defensive ends in that range with relatively the same grade, only way we go DE at 29 is if a top 5 drops, as in Anderson, Murphy, tyree, vann ness, smith.

I can see the rationale about DA fighting for his job, but I don’t think Peat’s job is set in stone after his they restructured his contract to reduce his pay and make him a free agent next year. They need his replacement this year or next, I seriously doubt we give him a new contract after this year.

O’cyrus is a top 10 left guard the day he comes in the league, would love the pick. He’s one of the best guards I’ve ever evaluated and THE best run blocking guard I’ve ever seen.
