How bad was this season (5 Viewers)

Yeah, this is it. The poll title itself is clear, but then the lead-in post makes it confusing. Not among the top 5 worst, but easily one of the most disappointing.

Before the season started, the Saints were betting favorites in 14 of 17 games. We are 7-8 with two games to play and my expectation is 7-10. Could have been 14-3, 11-5 with a couple wtf games…7 wins is unacceptable with this schedule and the talent on the roster and a relatively healthy roster.

While not the worse season ever, it was certainly MUCH worse than this season ever should have been.
There was zero excuse not to win at least 12 games with this schedule. It was a classic coaching failure.

Yes during the 70s any win like a real prize
Mora/Benson changed all of that - we dated to hope and dream (and sometimes even expect)
When Ditka came on board it seemed like the final piece to make us a real contender
Ditka being laughably inept but also obnoxious about it made it much worse than when we were just likable losers

I think this thread is asking something that I’ve been wondering these past few weeks- is it worse to be bad or mediocre?
At this point it’s really hard to tell

Imo, I always thought it was worse just to be pure bad.
Like eliminated before Halloween bad.

going from thinking that Derek Carr could be teh 2nd coming of Drew Brees to realizing he's a cancer in the lockerroom has been really hard. and what's crazy is that he has zero ability to self reflect on his assumptions that have caused all these problems. the guy literally can't look in the mirror.

This season was not bad enough to convince the front office that it was bad, which is the worst kind of bad to be.

We were forecasted for 9.5 wins by Vegas, so this season hasn’t been the biggest shock. We can talk all day about an allegedly loaded roster and the easy schedule, but Vegas saw all that and penciled is in for barely getting a winning record. We are locked in on the under at this point.

It was certainly a very disappointing season to say the least. The franchise as a whole looks bad (team and FO). Maybe this team is not as talented as we seem to think it is. This team needs more than a coaching change!

Maybe the FO could use a few changes as well.

I've seen worse, but I don't recall disliking a coaching staff more. In some of those worse seasons I at least felt like we just lacked talent on the field and it's really hard to get around a lack of talent. This team has talent in a lot of spots and the coaches are just putting them in terrible positions to succeed. They don't coach to players strengths and it drives me insane on a weekly basis. I am convinced that with almost any new coaching staff, we would have won more games this season because fresh eyes evaluating this roster couldn't possibly misuse players the way this staff does.

Fresh eyes is exactly what this team needs!

We were expected to be a 9-10 win team before the season. That's what the projections were.
