I have seen some horrible years back in the 80s and 90s and 2000s. But we are still fresh after the Brees era and if I have to go by the Brees era I would say the 2014 season, and 2007 season were more disappointing. 2007 coming off a great 2006 with playoffs expectations and 2014 coming off a 2013 season with an improve defense. 2014 was the worst draft I could think of recently.
Yeah I agree

I have watched since circa 2004(I am younger than most of you) and I’d say:

2005
2014
2007
2023
2022

Are the worst years I can remember but this might be the most disappointing imo. I hope and pray my generations doesn’t have to experience bag on heads again that I heard my late dad talk about..

It stops before they get to #1 Takeaway...

ETA: Found the full video:

I think the # 1 takeaway is there needs to be significant change, ie, fire Allen, but the local media is hesitant to be explicit.

Bum Phillips was the worst. Ditka was was pretty egregious too but he didn't have anything to work with..
I was a bit young to be paying attention to coaches when Bum was coach, but looking back on his record, he was pretty bad. Although even he got the team to 8 wins in 1983. Are we expecting another win this season?

I have been watching the Saints since I can remember (around 1970)....for many years the team was devoid of talent, and losing seasons were expected....not good times for sure but not unexpected given the roster.....

Was the roster this year great? Nah, but it was pretty darn solid, good enough for a competent coach to win the division fairly easily IMO.....especially considering the ease of the schedule and the weakness of our division.....

This season to me was train wreck bad because players under CSP that were good consistent players have almost all regressed, some due to age, others? Inexplicably.....because of the incompetence and ineptitude of this coaching staff I feel this is the most underachieving Saints team I've ever seen....train wreck underachieving levels....

If the FO and ownership give this clown show one more year, I think the fans will let them know exactly how they feel, and it won't be a good look for Ms. Gayle.....she needs to step up and do the right thing if Loomis is incapable....

This is the most disappointing season by far.

Not the worst season in Saints history, but for the talent on the team, the strength of schedule, and status of the rest of the teams in the division, this season is the most embarrassing and disappointing.

No other season comes close. The Saints were given a layup and then tripped over their untied shoelaces.

Are we expecting another win this season?
Of course we are. Simply because winning any more games would be the worst thing that the Saints could do right now.
But isn't that how it always works for this team? :covri:

Our brand of football was pretty much unwatchable for the first what, 14 weeks of the season? The failed comeback against prevent defense is at least entertaining. What really gets me, though, and what really hurts, is the hopelessness. The reports saying DA is on track to be retained is just depressing. The 2023 season isn’t even over and we’ve already punted on 2024, where this coaching staff won’t win 5 games.

When you’re talentless you can take solace and comfort from little victories like playing good teams close or even the occasional win. But this team is so underachieving because of the lack of coaching that we can’t even enjoy those. In my 36 years of having season tickets and 46 years of cheering for the saints since I was 8, this is absolutely the most depressing.

The sad truth is this. Look at the Colts after Manning. The Broncos after Manning. The Pats after Brady. The Packers after Rodgers. The Saints are not unique. This is likely the new norm. And the most likely scenario is that the next HC will also be fired after 2 or 3 years. Because that's the norm for the NFL with only a few exceptions. And the Saints are no longer one of them.

This year is easily top 5 worst season if you look at just the last 20 years. If you want to go "all time" then this season is probably in the top 25 best seasons. Let that sink in for a minute. In all time Saints history, this is an above average season. The reason this season is a huge disappointment to me is that we have the talent, we play in a terrible division, we had a very easy schedule and our terrible coaching could not be overcome. I'm mostly dejected because I just don't think Loomis will fire Dennis Allen, even if he gets blown out in the final two games. Loomis is just playing out the string and doesn't want to rock the boat. Season Ticket sales will crater if they lose out and keep Allen.

What you say may be true, but you can't get better by staying bad. We were a bad team this year. Staying with the same thing isn't going to be entertaining to this fan base. At least with new coaches and new players there is hope for something better even if it never comes.

Come on, the reason anyone will say that this season is the "worst ever" is either b/c they became Saints fan during the Drew/SP era and this truly is the worst they have experienced or the most logical reason is that while 7-8 isnt the worst record in the world, it feels like it is the worst b/c we all get the feeling this team isnt building up to anything. Derek Carr isnt all of the sudden going to become Kurt Warner/Carson Palmer have a renaissance-like resurgence/leap next year, if DA cant have a winning record with the schedule hes had this year, imagine when this team has to play much better QBs on a regular basis (look at this season opposing talent at QB, its shockingly mediocre at best overall), all the stars on defense are only getting longer in the tooth (Davis, Lattimore, Jordan).

I hate to bring that season up, but the year prior to winning the Super Bowl, we went 8-8...and while we felt disappointed in the way things ended, we know this team was on the verge of something special...we didnt know it at the time, but of course it ultimately meant a Super Bowl berth/win. This 7-8 team feels like its going nowhere in a flash, please tell me where the optimism is? I think the negative trajectory of our future is why some ppl would say this yeah feels like "the worst", and while i disagree on the aspect of this year being remotely the worst ever, i can understand that sentiment at least.

I think a better poll woulda been "Is this the most disappointing team in Saints history?" b/c with that ill agree.

Just look at our schedule, the fact this team didnt win at least 10 game is appalling...imagine if we had to play the NFC West/AFC East instead of the NFC North/AFC South, good grief...
