I want no part of Aaron Glenn as a HC (60 Viewers)

I guess we're in that weird space where some people are pretending that certain players aren't actually starters to justify a team giving up nearly 50 points. Anzalone and Jack Campbell are both starters.

And the defensive playcalling was bad. Regardless of anything else, the Commies imposed their will on the Lions like they weren't even there.
Yes I was thinking this, there is never a valid reason a defense gives up 40 something points. That defense also got torched by Buffalo

Yes that same guy. I want a guy who can build an offense around a young QB. I don’t want to waste a young QB on a team with a defensive coach who only cares to teachthem to not turn the ball over.
Yeah I don't like defensive coaches. Look at Buffalo, they can't win because of the HC and also because Allen is more Wild than a candle in the wind.

His defense was designed to stop the previous era of pocket passing QB's. It relies on having elite CB's and pass rushers. That's also the two most expensive position groups on defense. You need the best of the best and you need to pay them top dollar.

It can't handle mobile QB's and that's the direction the league is heading. So not only does the defense cost a lot to run effectively but it's stuck in the past.

Name three more like him in the past 20 years.
I'm sorry but I'd rather have Brady. Brees, Rodgers, Favre, Romo, Mahomes, Burrow, Stafford, healthy Tua,

There been too many games where Allen doesn't even complete 50 percent of his passes. One game this year he complete 30 something percent of his passes

Don't leave quite yet!!!!!

1) He's already at least as good or better than Lamar or Josh (he is more accurate, consistent), and I think will be better than Mahomes eventually....(Mahomes actually barely played his rookie year)
2) He is 5+ years younger than all the QB's listed
3) The notion that he will likely improve is scary, unless you are a Commanders fan....

So I don't think it's unreasonable to say he could be a generational talent, the key is for him to stay healthy (and their OC needs to cut out or minimize those designed runs).....

Also, wanted to add, I disagree with those judging Glenn based on one game, but if you look at Glenn's D's and their rankings over the last few years, not very impressive, that's mainly why I don't want him, other than I'm really leaning towards a young offensive mind (Brady)....

In my Michael Corleone voice “just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in!”

I shoulda said it in the Jayden thread so as not to derail this one so this is my last comment here on it. I’m not saying what he’s doing isn’t special this soon in his career, of course it is.

Fact is what he’s doing as a dual threat is being done currently by Lamar and has been for several years. They are still contemporaries.

Sure he could eventually be better than all of them and sooner rather than later. He could also take a step back if Kingsbury leaves among other things as teams get more film on him. We will see. But a generation is 20-30 years on average is my point.

I agree with you however on AG. If we going to go down this road then we should only consider hiring whichever coordinator wins the Super Bowl because that always works right?

Underhill doing what he does best. Mickeymegaphone.

Dan Quinn had led a pathetic franchise to the SB. He won a SB in Seattle as DC. His resume is well more established to withstand 1 game than Glenn.

Glenns Defense rankings, yards

Be objective with this. Glenn in 4 years has never really been close to having an upper half defense. Compare him against Dennis Allen, and even that boat anchor deserved his shot at HC more.

2024 - 20th
2023 - 19th
2022- 32nd
2021 - 29th

Are those honestly the defensive rankings you want to see when you hire a DC as a HC? If any of you supporting Glenn for this job were given those rankings without a name, youd skip right past them.

Thats why 1 playoff game giving up 45 matters a bit more than Dan Quinn. Its a SUPER short sighted response by Underhill. Par for the course.
I think that’s his point though. Look at the resumes, not 1 game.

That’s what you base your decision on.

I'm not gonna let one game decide whether Glenn would be a good head coach. They had an impressive season defensively even with all the injuries they had, and last night they just ran into a red hot offense that they had no answers for. I think AG will be a solid head coach.

But not for the Saints if it were up to me. I want to turn the page from and move on from anything having to do with the Sean Payton regime. If there was one guy I'd hire from that regime it would be Joe Brady. I think he has gone other places and learned how other teams do their business, and I don't think it would "feel" like a Payton locker room.

If it were up to me I'd hire an offensive head coach... Brady, Kingsbury, McCarthy, Ben Johnson (in no particular order). Having a good offensive HC would keep the offense here, and not leave for another team when the OC is hired to take a HC job.

Nothing against Aaron Glenn... I think he's gonna be a good head coach and I hope he gets one of these open jobs, but I'm hoping for an offensive guy.
