I want no part of Aaron Glenn as a HC (5 Viewers)

1st rd byes aren't looking too great this post season. Even KC didn't look that hot and those horrible calls that extended drives really helped them pull ahead. I hope at some point, when a player goes out of bounds and then politics for a flag, via flopping, its a flat out ejection from the game after a booth review. The NFL needs to put an end to that crap. Mahomes antics are WAY too ridiculous at this point, it has grown to cancerous levels.

For a 15 win team, KC has not looked good for a large portion of the season. Theres only so much criticism you can have for a team that won 15 games, but 11 of their 15 wins were 1 score games. 3 of those 4 2 score wins were against 11+ loss teams.

I dont like getting too far down in conspiracy theory holes, but the refereeing yesterday looked like it was an attempt to keep Taylor Swift in the playoffs.

I don’t like how much Underhill is defending Glenn. Leads me to believe he is the choice of the front office and Underhill has inside knowledge of that information. Glenn just looks like more of the same that we’ve had with DA. Hype and a big letdown at the biggest moments.

Or, you know, he thinks you don't judge a coach on one game and thinks you wouldn't want a front office that does. But, sure, let's twist this into a conspiracy theory. They are all the rage now.

He's not defending Glenn. He's saying you don't judge any coach on one game.

So you are in agreement in principle; they are just using more colorful language than you.

No. The overreaction to one game is ridiculous. That's not a valid reason to not hire Glenn and he is getting blown out in this big game so he shouldn't be our HC was the argument being made. But, there are other reasons not to hire him but none of them, especially not one game mean he can't be a good HC. That's not the same thing as just more colorful language. I realize nuance is often lost on the internet, but I think this is pretty clear.

I’m leaning more towards Brady now. I see too much DA in Glenn.

He's only like DA in that they run a similar scheme. I'm not a fan of the bend but don't break style that counts on turnovers, but some teams do it well and the details matter. They are details that DA too often did not get right at the end of games.

But, I think the biggest problem with that style of defense is that it relies on having an elite pass rush to speed up the QB clock and force him into bad throws. You also need that elite pass rush to stop two minute drives with sacks in critical situations. That's something we haven't had in New Orleans in many years and something that Glenn had in Detroit until Hutchinson got hurt.

But Glenn's personality is a 180 from DA. He's intense and a leader. I'd still prefer an offensive HC and I'd prefer a different style of defense, but I don't think DA is anything like Glenn other than they both run the same basic scheme.

Quinn built the team with culture guys, it was a lessons learned from his ATL job, something he didn't do. Terry Mclaurin is really their only guy with draft capital at WR. The others are tough dudes that play their roles.

JD5 is 1 of 1.
Ok, so just an RoY QB and WR1 who had gotten to a pro bowl despite dogshirt at QB (prior to Daniels). Oh yeah not to mention a 3 time pro-bowler at TE. Granted 33 years old at the backend of his year.

And all these guys stayed healthy for the most part.

That should be easy for Loomis to swing in one offseason so Kingsbury can work his magic.

Now, if we had the same luck at health as the Commanders, I think the only difference would have been QB. But that's a huge difference which without a high draft pick or incredible luck that one becomes available in FA, cannot be fixed in an offseason.

I’ll take the OC who’s currently taking him to the wood shed
🤣🤣 You cold blooded! But I'm really hoping for a offensive head coach because of the modern day quarterback and rules everything is favored for that side of the ball. They've almost completely taken special teams out of football and the defensive side won't get fair treatment or calls.

This Detroit man to man defense is the Dennis Allen defense. Lions DC was Allen’s DB coach with Saints. You have to have great man to man DBs. Not many teams do. And Saints are seriously considering this DC. I want no part of him.
He runs Dennis Allen’s defense in Detroit. I live in MI and have been watching it every week.
4-2 with DBs playing 5-10 yards off.

I'm glad nobody is overreacting to one half of football against a generational talent QB when one of the QBs have thrown 2 interceptions in a half (3 total turnovers). Everyone being totally cool and rational just like always.
Looks like we just took that Saints game day thread energy and transferred it to the playoff teams' game thread instead.

The only difference is, instead of overreaction posts saying 'Fire this guy!!!', we get 'Don't hire this guy!!!1!!'

And yet, they still lost by two TD's and was out-matched, out-played by a rookie QB on an above-average team that barely beat a fiesty, competitive Tampa team by a last-second FG that doinked off the side at the last minute before being counted.

All SB-winning or capable teams have injuries this time of year. You have to win the big games still with who you have and even in spite of some very really good teams not having these same play-makers, many still find ways to win, regardless. Aaron Glenn didn't do that today and like it or not, his defense's porous, lackluster performance today likely cost him a few NFL HC job openings.
They came out flat, there's no doubt, but the injuries can't be discounted.

I'll be interested to see if this affects Glenn's HC stock. After a loss like that, he may decide to stay in Detroit another year.

Plus, people are sleeping on how good the Commanders can be with JD at the helm, they could legitimately win it now.

You are absolutely right.
