I want no part of Aaron Glenn as a HC (133 Viewers)

Glenn wouldn’t be my first choice for HC, but he’s got a lot going for him, despite the result of yesterday’s game.

In my head, I want one of the innovative young offensive guys - but in my heart, I think we may need a guy like Glenn or McCarthy. It just feels like there’s something deeper than Xs and Os that the Saints need to fix.

The one thing this loss does is speeds along the hiring process of every team. Glenn and Johnson being 2 of the top candidates and now available for in person interviews. It’s also the cost of having 2 high profile candidates, you can’t help but to think how much distraction and lost time was attributed to head coaching interviews.

I still lean to McCarthy. Even before this game I wasn’t a fan of Detroit’s defense. But I’m also on the bandwagon of anyone is better that DA.

I don’t like how much Underhill is defending Glenn. Leads me to believe he is the choice of the front office and Underhill has inside knowledge of that information. Glenn just looks like more of the same that we’ve had with DA. Hype and a big letdown at the biggest moments.
I mean he's not wrong and Loomis wouldn't operate that way. That being said it was a good reminder why I'm tired of Allen's and his (even though they are slightly different) style of defense. You need elite CB's and the second one goes down, and it will inevitably happen, if the other team has a halfway decent QB they can just sit there and target the backup all game.

Dan Quinn’s Cowboys defense gave up 41 points in his last game (a playoff game) before taking the Commanders HC job. He’s playing in the NFCCG next week. One game doesn’t matter.

I agree 1 game doesn’t matter.

How many years has AG had a top 5 defense? What I have watched of the Lions, the offense drove the bus starting with their running backs.

I feel like AG’s head coaching campaign has been astroturfed. I can’t remember him ever having a dominant defense.

I am not thrilled about Aaron Glenn as head coach, but Mike McCarthy thrills me less. And I agree totally that Glenn should not and cannot be judged on one game, whether last night's game against Washington or the final regular-season game against Minnesota where the Detroit defense played exceptionally well. And keep in mind that Detroit on the defensive side has suffered a number of injuries. I will also concede that Glenn may have leadership qualities that those who have interviewed and worked with him are in a much better position to recognize.

I am much more concerned about whether the Saints are going to move to a harder rebuild model than what Loomis has done and talked about on Monday. Charles Hanagriff recently wrote a column recommending McCarthy as our new coach. His rationale was that McCarthy might have the clout to steer Loomis and the front office in a direction different from what we have been meandering down for the last three years.

Statistically he played cover 1 man almost 50% of the time. They played more man to man than any team in the NFL. I don’t like it against running QB’s. The Lions were a mash unit at times this season. I don’t want my corners and my safeties always turning their back to QB’s. You are always susceptible to pass interference and holding calls.

These are their players on IR, several top players on defense

I think getting the bye week at this point in the playoffs is more of a detriment to teams. The teams without the byes seem to perform better.
Those teams have a game under their belt while the bye week team has to warm up.

Detroit played most of the season while being decimated on defense and it caught up to us last night.

I'm glad nobody is overreacting to one half of football against a generational talent QB when one of the QBs have thrown 2 interceptions in a half (3 total turnovers). Everyone being totally cool and rational just like always.
I, too, am glad sobriety and sensibility will be our north star this offseason
