Ian Rapoport: Saints to make a decision on Taysom Hill; hard to imagine Hill returning [T.Hill is turning 35 w/ 18M cap hit & ACL recovery] (8 Viewers)

Yes in a vacuum TH will be 35 at the start of the season , and father time does win all battles, But TH's 35 is not like a 35 your old player that has been playing 13 yrs because he has not. Also his usage is not like a RB or TE or WR. In 8 yrs TH has only had 437 rushing attempts and caught only 99 passes. He avg 71 rushing attempts per 17 games and 16 rec.
It's not like he has been high usage

Right, so the fact that he gets injured so often despite the relatively low usage doesn't give you pause?

Interesting.....and to be sure I hope TH comes back and is a major contributor for a full season, but I also think that is very, very unlikely at this point.....the reason he is so effective is his physical running style....which leads to.....we all know what it leads to....

Interesting...

Can he block punts and LBs? :)
I doubt he's done that any time recently, but if a guy not projected to be an NFL QB wants an NFL job, he may take to some coaching.

That's the thing I don't get about guys like Milroe. Nobody thinks he's a starting NFL QB. Why wouldn't he want to cross train to be an NFL player? What other career is he walking out of college with the potential to make $1.2m a year or more for the next decade. I guess there is a pride thing involved, but most of college football players used to be the best guys on their high school teams, many of them QBs, and had to go change things up once they got to college. Why not the same thing moving into the NFL if you have something to offer that's different that what you did in college?

Teams absolutely do believe Milroe can be a starting QB in the NFL. His draft profile is almost a carbon copy of Hurts', who just won a superbowl.
He's not an NFL level passer and I don't think he's ever going to be. We'll see how much NFL teams believe that by where he gets drafted. I hope it's not us.

While I tend to agree, I will acknowledge that the way the modern game is trending makes it more possible that he could be successful. Hurts still isn't a great pure passer, but the combination of his football IQ, scrambling ability, and competitiveness are enough to supplement his growth throwing the ball. We've seen some incredible flashes from Milroe, and the raw talent is there. The wild card with him is whether or not he will be honest enough with himself to recognize and ruthlessly attack his areas of weakness.

I wouldn't take him in the first or even second round, but if he "passes the test" throughout the interview process, I'd likely be inclined to make sure I have a shot at him near the top of the 3rd round. He's probably worth that just as a pure athlete/playmaker.
