Saints If Carr can’t go next week, Haener should get the start. (1 Viewer)

Stick with Rattler for tank camouflage purposes. Also have team doctors tell Carr he’s had a setback and we need him to go on IR.
A total of 6 offensive points with Rattler at QB since halftime of the Bucs game (week 6). If Carr is out next week and they start Rattler again, they are either saying, "We're tanking" or "We're really, really stupid"...and I don't think they would willingly tank.

If the "myth of Haener" was deflated in 17 minutes, then the "myth of Rattler" is deflated after 2.5 games of football.

If you disagree with that, then you are obviously biased and using double standards.
I never bought into any myth of Rattler either. I have only ever said that we should choose one guy and roll with that one guy to get them experience while Carr was out. They were barely different at all. The QBs are not the problem and even the best QB would have a hard time playing in this offense right now. The wheels have completely come off the entire team.

I don't think it matters who starts. We are not good enough to overcome any mistakes. If we get any holding calls or drops, the drive is dead.

I did think we came out too conservative in the first half. Not sure how much they trust either QB. But if Rattler or Haener starts next week, they will need to open up the playbook

The point in Haener starting was to have a better chance at winning. Most people have agreed(as well as most analysts and post game Grading services) that Haener looks more ready to be in the no win situation. You play to win the game, you don't play it just to play it. The play book noticeably opened up with Haener in.. he handled it as well as he could with the defense knowing he was going to be forced to throw nearly every down. The ball was out quick, he was calling out defenses presnap, but please do tell me how they didn't "look that different"

when asked about the Offense not improving when some key players returned DA said what we all have been saying.....

so yes, It is very likely that Haener would have also lost every game that he would have started... BUT we would have had a Better chance to win had he started...

So now we are going to listen to what Allen has to say? :hihi:

The thing with Rattler, it was just a way to feel some excitement for something new, when the team started on its 6-game losing streak. I don't think anyone, or many, truly expected Rattler to come out and look like Mahomes.

I don't have anything against Haener, and why not give him a shot, but Haener didn't exactly look that great beyond a couple of plays in which the tossed the ball to Kamara and Taysom, and they made plays with their legs.

Next Sunday, the Saints play a Panthers team that has given 34 points per game. Chances are, whoever starts at QB will have some success and will score some points. This will start a series of "I told you so" posts, regardless of who's at QB. But it won't matter until any of the 3 QB (and yes, I'm including Carr) can move the ball and score points against middle-of-the-road and above defenses.

Carr starts next week so its all moot now..... but besides the point... The point is DA screwed us again with extremely questionable coaching, and now all we have is his excuses. The reason he gave for starting Rattler was "we believe he gives us the best chance to win". Beliefs aren't reality. You can believe that Haener didnt look better than Rattler.... but Haener is the 3rd best graded player on Offense this game.

Haener should have been named the starter for this game after what he did last game. He was much more ready to put us in a position to win.
In fact I'd bet $$ that is JH would have name the starter and gotten the weeks work as a starter we win this game. SR looked rattled he couldn't keep his feet and he ran into sacks on multiple occasions. And threw away way too many balls

I would play Rattler. See if he can beat the worst team in the league. It's not like Haener is in the future plans in any way shape or form.

I agree, I don't feel like Haener is the plan for the future otherwise we wouldn't of drafted another QB last year and we also wouldn't of started that QB over Haener who has been in the building longer. People are quick to point to Haener in these last few 4th quarter appearances but everyone's stats are inflated in garbage time. By the time he was put in the game was already well out of hand and the defenses were sitting back in prevent coverage giving just about everything away to just run out time on the clock.

Rattler looked his best the last two games when he was mobile and outside the pocket. Something, felt really off this past game. I'm not sure if he played through injury with that injury he sustained a week ago and just wasn't feeling healthy enough to run or what. It felt like the play calling was attempting to put him into a position where he was supposed to be a game manager and that is not the type of offense that is going to help us when games when you have our defense giving up 12 more points than the the opponents average. It just won't.

The big part of what is missing in New Orleans since Sean Payton left is the risk taking. No risk it no biscuit. If your head coach is a defensive coach - then your defense better be outstanding if your gong to play offense conservatively in this league.

I don't feel like they have really turned rattler loose or haener nor have they actually built a gameplan around exploiting the strengths they have. The game plans have been to minimize their opportunity for mistakes and rely on complimentary football that simply hasn't existed this season other than the first two games.

100%

You can still be high on Rattler's upside and the chance that he will develop into something pretty terrific over the next year or two [See Jordan Love. He supposedly looked awful his first training camp and year.] while acknowledging that Haener is further along right now and would have given the team a better chance at getting a win over the last few games.

Pretty sure DC4 will play and I was the first one to predict that Bryce Young would start against us. Even called that before Dalton’s car accident.
