Im So Upset With Day 2 Draft Strategy (2 Viewers)

Bruh. Y'all whine too much. I'm a pretty high strung guy, but y'all make me feel like a zen master. We got 3 first rounders at positions of need for the price of a 4th. We're trying to trade back into the 4th where there is still loads of talent at positions of need. Lots of offseason left. I don't doubt that we'll draft a guard. And if we're still in it, well snag another defensive guy.

Saints needed 3 bonafide defensive çontributors. Drafting someone like Alabama DT Reed would have given the flexiblity to move Rankins around on the line.

Keeping your third and 4th round selections would have filled your OG and WR need with quality instant contributors with someone like Vladal Alexander and any number of WR Marques Colston possession clones.

In a draft where you need immediate impact with holes to fill, the Saints and Mickey Loomis let Sean Payton have his way with his toys and the drafting of a DB leaves a lot to be desired as these *** clowns have proven they are incapable of picking that position with the misses, misutilizations, and lack of growth, development, and scheme fit considering the resources and ROI weve had at DB under this regime.

We truly need a REAL GM who has the balls to be anything other than a Yes man for the head coach.

Bottom line, yoy can get an instant quality end or DT or LB in round 2, but you wont find that in rounds 3 and 4. What you will find in rounds 3 and 4 are immediate impact guards and receivers.

This front office is terrible at drafting, terrible at determining value with both draft picks and contract negotiations.

We are in and have been in this position perpetually and fail to look in the mirror and realize "hey, we havent had success at this position year after year, perhaps we need to hire someone that knows how to spot and develop where we keep swinging and missing.

Tom needs a moment of clarity

Hi. I'd like to make definitive statements based upon nothing but conjecture.

At least according to overthecap.com, if we cut him next year, we still eat $8,000,000 in dead money. So he should be here at least 2 more years even if he is a backup.

True we would eat 8 million in dead money by cutting Byrd in 2017, but his cap hit for that year is 11.7 million. So the Saints would actually gain 3.7 million in cap space by cutting Byrd in 2017.

don't over react, I agree, I hate losing picks, we did get 3 potential starters, we still need a Guard, maybe a kicker, love to find a late round DT or DE that the scouts just love. we can sell our future and get back in this draft, not the way I like to do it, but that is how they do it.

This!!! I'm fine with anyone who has criticism or dislikes a move but to adamantly reject a pick with no more then an active internet connection to form an opinion is a bit ridiculous.

Everyone here hates Byrd, then we draft his replacement, who has a first round grade, in the late 2nd and everyone loses their minds. Incredible.

Problem our scheme is so bad you just need a average player to just stand in the middle of the field an not let the deepest player past you. They don't use the safety to make plays.

The Browns have a lot of draft picks and need more fans. Think about a switch. Don't keep living with this anger. Just be a fan of a team that does what you like

You made the same exact post last year during the draft. Time to turn your fancard in.

Why nobody realizes that the Bell pick does 3 things is beyond me. Shows how easy it is to miss the point.

#1 The Bell pick allows you to put your best 11 players on the field in your nickel/sub package which you play in over 60% of the time because you are a passing team. So not only did you nab a possible replacement pick for Byrd in 1 year but you also gained a Starting S. Win

#2 The Bell makes up for missing out on a LB. You'd like to have grabbed a LB/S combo like Sua Cravens to maybe add to your Base/Nickel. Instead you couldn't fix that...so you had to do the next best thing. Draft a starter in nickel that also allows you to Kick Vaccaro down into that LB/S/CB role that you missed out on. We didn't draft a CB or LB but we drafted a S that can cover like a CB that allows our own S/CB/LB to play that position on 3rd downs.

#3 Because you are playing more zone and should see more tipped balls with blitzes you have someone on the back end who can turn those plays into INT's / TD's due to his ball skills. Thus ending drives or getting the ball back to the offense that you just added another WR to who can take a conservative 5yd screen and turn it into a 45 yd TD.

You guys just whine about prospects/moves without seeing the entire picture and how it makes sense in the grand prospect of things.

Would we have liked 10 picks .........YES........I'm sure.

However you cant address every neeed every year and thats why you quantify must/needs/wants because some of your wants like 2'OG or an Elite LB or Elite 1Tech might not get touched because they are WANTS and not NEEDS.

I'm sick of the whining on this board/ complaining from people who refuse to identify why tihngs MAKE SENSE and always want to point out why they DONT make sense.

Gosh darnit PJ......

I can't wait for the Benson to Loomis "come here, son." Don't keep us waitin!

Is this the come here son guy? Gotta give it to him, he has some stones.

OP, lighten up. You don't know as much as you think you know.

Some people complain about Byrd being hurt and when he's healthy, they complain about him not having 4 picks a game. Complain that Cooks isn't a "number 1" WR. Complain that we didn't add a WR via free agency....I bet those would be the same people saying we shoulda drafted Thomas had we passed him up and he eventually goes on to be a pro bowler.
