I cannot recall the last time the OP had anything positive to say about anyone in the Saints organization. I really can't.

We should stone him. Just kidding..
Saints needed 3 bonafide defensive çontributors. Drafting someone like Alabama DT Reed would have given the flexiblity to move Rankins around on the line.
Keeping your third and 4th round selections would have filled your OG and WR need with quality instant contributors with someone like Vladal Alexander and any number of WR Marques Colston possession clones.
In a draft where you need immediate impact with holes to fill, the Saints and Mickey Loomis let Sean Payton have his way with his toys and the drafting of a DB leaves a lot to be desired as these {mod edit} have proven they are incapable of picking that position with the misses, misutilizations, and lack of growth, development, and scheme fit considering the resources and ROI weve had at DB under this regime.
We truly need a REAL GM who has the balls to be anything other than a Yes man for the head coach.
Bottom line, yoy can get an instant quality end or DT or LB in round 2, but you wont find that in rounds 3 and 4. What you will find in rounds 3 and 4 are immediate impact guards and receivers.
This front office is terrible at drafting, terrible at determining value with both draft picks and contract negotiations.
We are in and have been in this position perpetually and fail to look in the mirror and realize "hey, we havent had success at this position year after year, perhaps we need to hire someone that knows how to spot and develop where we keep swinging and missing.

That's what the draft is about ... making picks, discussing picks, personnel moves, etc. So, you just want rah-rah-rah's no matter what picks and personnel moves are made??? Soooo, what, ... no dissenting opinions? Just be a fan and say that everything is just awesome even if we have another losing season with an embarrassing defense???
Okay. Have fun with that. I'll continue to see past the pom-pom's and the pep rallies and wonder what this team really needs to turn around a 2-year losing trend and 3 of the last 4.
First, have YOU been HAPPY about the last three years??? I know I haven't. There have been some happy moments, but overall the last 3 years have been disappointing overall at best. Other words that come to mind are frustrating, upsetting, maddening, confusing ...
So, I don't think you have a leg to stand on when you infer that someone is missing something if they are upset about the last 3 years.
Second, I was upset about the 2nd day as well. The Saints biggest holes going into the draft were DL, LB, CB, G, not necessarily in that order. With the #1 passing offense in the NFL and the WORST DEFENSE IN NFL HISTORY, the one position they had absolutely no business drafting was receiver. They had to go full defense except for guard.
How much better can the offense, especially the passing offense REALLY be?? They're the BEST IN THE NFL RIGHT NOW.
So, drafting a receiver, especially TRADING UP to draft a receiver, is just another sign that Payton really can't control himself. He's still go the virus in his blood. It will never really go away.
The Saints needed someone in the middle of the DL to stop the run, AND they needed a top-flight game-changing edge rusher. At the very least, they needed another starter at linebacker ... are we going to the 3-4 OR NOT??? I don't get it. Who are the 4 starting linebackers right now?? Mystifying to me.
Then, you draft a FS, I guess to replace Byrd?? This is just an admission that Byrd was a HUGE HUGE HUGE MISTAKE.
I know it's hard to swallow, but, other than Rankins, I don't think this team improved.
Who is going to take Evans's spot at G???
Yeah, I hear Payton's reasons for taking those picks, but I don't see that those were needs that were higher than the ones I listed, which were the same ones that everyone in the country listed for the Saints ... because they were OBVIOUS to everyone. We had a hard time protecting Drew Brees consistently last season, and we must protect him more every year the older that he gets. And, we hve the worst defense in NFL history. So, let's get a WR and a S where we already have a 1st round pick and the most expensive FS in the NFL.
Just shaking my head.
I will pull for the Saints like I do every year. I hope they win 16 games and go to the Super Bowl. I hope I'm wrong about these picks and Payton is right, but Payton is far from perfect in his selections over the last 10 years, especially recently.
You've been perpetually upset for like the past 3 years.
