Inflation here? gas/grocery prices just continue to climb (5 Viewers)

Stagflation here we come

well we dont have unusually high unemployment as of yet so maaaaybe we stave off full blown stagflation?

I think its all a matter of timing with each "cycle" - ie if the unemployment cycle stays relatively flat or minimal increase for next 6 mo, we can absorb somewhat of the higher inflation ( its own cycle ) til we get to the other side of the supply/demand issue. ( another cycle )

But if they all merge...watch out.

I have flat hobbit feet, so I had to relearn how to run (as I was killing my feet). To bring us back on course with inflation…my Brooks Beast shoes haven’t gone up in price.
Adidas Supernova Glides here. Alleviated my plantar fasciitis in 1 month.

On the inflation subject I see cat food in aluminum cans is back on the shelf in decent quantities. The price has not come down one cent and I’ll bet it never does. The same with all the rest of the stuff on which prices have been jacked up. Regardless of when supply chain issues are resolved, prices will never come down. It’s the corporate America way.

^^ I'm the one that puts water in the hot sauce and soap bottles then shake it around to get the rest out. I cut tubes open too.

Especially since I've developed some type of agoraphobia spinoff where the thought of leaving my house and encountering other humans puts me in a panic.

If I can scrape another week's worth of toothpaste out of the tube, best believe I'm doing it.

(I've left my house and driven past the store without turning in because the parking lot looked too chaotic)
I buy in bulk so that I don't have to go to the store as often. 😄

I have a difficult time in restaurants because I don't like people breathing, talking, etc. around the food.

Small groups of people don't bother me too much but large groups are horrible. At restaurants/weddings, when everybody is eating, I can hear every conversation, every utensil clank a plate, every cough, and it just gets louder and louder until I can snap out of it, or leave.

And the quality of cat food seems to have declined. My kittens get Blue Wilderness kitten food. They have quit eating the canned chicken pate'. I can feel the difference when I get it out of the cans. It's harder. I can tell that it's different without even tasting it. I still have about ten cans of that stuff. I've tried other brands but chicken seems to be a big problem for all of them. Either both kittens have decided that they hate chicken, or something is different. They used to love it.

It's been a long, long time, but somewhere back in the past I have an MS in Economics and even an MBA, but what we have going on now isn't really the same I don't believe as what we called stagflation. I mean, we have zero unemployment, but the whole world and conditions are so different and we've become so adept and addicted to expansion and debt I can't make heads or tails of it.

Real academics are going to be inventing new terms as this shakes out.

We can end this if we all just stopped buying **** we don’t need

We can end this if we all just stopped buying **** we don’t need

And we need to. What we've been doing is the most incredibly wasteful and self-harming way of life I can imagine. We literally sheet where we eat and seem only to be concerned with how we can sheet more and closer.

I've never liked the word "consumer." In my mind it describes a mindless eating machine and human beings should not be mindless, greedy and all-devouring.

We are officially one more negative GDP report away from being in a recession.

Saw this report on what Wall Street thinks. Suprise, they can't agree...

"A major recession is coming, Deutsche Bank warns"

"Goldman Sachs: Recession is not inevitable"
