Israel (now broader Mid East discussion) (18 Viewers)

The side I'm taking is we no longer need to provide cover for Israel. They can act however they want towards the Palestinians, just not under the protective umbrella of American armed forces.

It is beyond tiresome to keep hearing people accuse those that don't support whatever Israel wants to do as being pro Hamas.

Isreals' intent for Gaza is to remove it's terrorists murdering scum bags leaders... and leave... that's what they have indicated.... if that doesn't happen, we can discuss it then... I am talking about the reality of what has and is happening.

I don't have any confidence or trust in the IDF doing what you say above, and if Israel's history of illegal occupation is any indication, once again...why would anyone?

And 'remove its terrorists and leave' is pretty ambiguous. How long does that take? They could declare this intent and use it as their justification to continue carpet bombing Gaza until there's nothing left...and eventually even occupy it.

In any case, agree to disagree -- but I bookmarked the post for future reference.

Jabalia: Israel air strike reportedly kills dozens at Gaza refugee camp
Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry said 50 people were killed and 150 wounded. But a nearby hospital said it received 400 casualties, including 120 dead.
Pictures showed several large craters, surrounded by shattered buildings.
The Israeli military said the strike killed a senior Hamas commander and "underground terror infrastructure" beneath buildings collapsed afterwards.

Tuesday's air strike in Jabalia caused a huge explosion that destroyed several residential buildings in the centre of the refugee camp, where before the war 116,000 people were living in an area of just 1.4 sq km (0.5 sq miles).
Jabalia resident Ragheb Aqal said it had felt like there was "an earthquake".

"I went and saw the destruction... homes buried under the rubble and body parts and martyrs and wounded in huge numbers," he told AFP news agency.
Video footage and photos showed hundreds of people searching the wreckage afterwards. "We're filling bags with children," cried one man, holding up a small white cloth bag covered in blood.

AFP reported that its video footage from the scene showed at least 47 bodies being pulled from the rubble.
A long line of body bags were laid outside the Indonesian Hospital, in nearby Beit Lahia. Its surgical director told the BBC's International editor Jeremy Bowen that it received 400 casualties, including 120 dead, and that the majority were children and women.

Who here said that?

It's a Bible verse - They are at war.... A war their Enemy considers "Holy"

My point was - we know what the intent of Hamas is and was... As of now, the intent of Israel is wipe out Hamas and remove them permanently and forever from Gaza... after that... my assumption is that the Army leaves, unless they prove otherwise.

I would say that it is a holy war for them too if they are quoting scripture.

The majority women and children claim is absurd. I don't doubt dozens and possibly hundreds killed, but no way it's majority women and children. That has to be 100% Hamas propaganda.

I say this for 2 reasons. 1) most Gazans have already relocated to south Gaza and 2) look at the videos. A large majority in the videos are young men.

It just makes their claims not plausible.

The photos are of people cleaning up the rubble. That is why it's mostly young men in those photos.

I don't really think that there is any doubt that most of the people killed have been women and children. It's just math.

Well, we don't really know that. If most women and children have moved to south Gaza, wouldn't it stand to reason there would be far fewer relative to men in the harder hit areas? Math indeed.

I'd say that the assumption that every Family in Gaza is innocent, and doesn't support, shelter, hide, and sympathize with what these terrorists are doing is also a myth... It's just math.

What is the world coming to when we can't trust the reports from a group who'd rape and behead innocent civilians before hiding behind their own refugees to avoid the fight they started?

How many women and children do you think have been killed?

How many would it take for it to matter to you?

Obviously the number isn't 0. We know some women and children have been killed.

At some point quibbling over how much the numbers reported by Hamas are exaggerated is just a distraction.

Would 1000 women and children being killed matter to you? 2000, 5000?

Questioning the numbers is just a way for people to avoid the point.

Yeah, I bothers me that the media is still giving numbers from Gazan officials who are hardly objective and have already made numerous since debunked claims. They're simply not credible.
