It will take time to develop Rattler, Haener or possible first round quarterback. (19 Viewers)

I know there are a few Team Haener and Team Rattler here but everyone needs to take a chill pill with expectations for these young quarterbacks. No quarterbacks, (hall of famer, veterans, Super Bowl winners or MVP) can come in and spark this offense into winning games. We have 4 receivers that should be on the practice squad starting in a game, an offensive line that struggle all year long with injuries and inconsistency, a run game that can't be relied on and a defense that looks almost as bad as 2012 2014 2015 defense. To expect a fifth rounder to come in and be that savior is absurd. If Green Bay can give their first rounders (Rodgers and Love) a few years to learn and patience, why can't we? It took Brees 3 years before San Diego was winning. Love, in place of Rodgers, were horrible his first few starts. It took 2 years before he became a full time starter. He didn't get going until the middle of last year. With both of these guys, I see something I like. Although they struggled, I am not giving up on them. Not saying they will be the next franchise, but give them some times. Even if a quarterback is drafted first next year, don't expect too much too soon. Understand patience with them.

The new headcoach should not have to be married to any quarterbacks in the room. He needs to be given the chance to bring in his own guy if that's his preference. The new coach needs to be given the opportunity to build his own team.
That's beside the point. People are way too critical of this rookie quarterback when all the odds are against him. When the new head coach comes in, then that will be a different discussion.

I think Spencer could be the guy if he wasn’t playing with guys that belong on a practice squad…. But where we are…. We should be drafting a QB high every year until we find the guy. End of discussion.

The problem is neither Haener nor Rattler have shown they are worth the resources it would require to even try and turn them into a QB1. They’re ceilling is backup QB. We gotta draft one or search other teams QB2’s for starting talent that isn’t obvious due to a scheme mismatch or superior talent at QB1. No one comes to mind except maybe Jake Browning for the Bengals. And no one in this draft looks appealing. Jaxson Dart has some intriguing capabilities but he had a bad college year which will cause a lot pause. He really struggled against good defenses as did Carson Beck. Ward and Sanders look like eye candy that will fade away like Deshaun Watson but likely and hopefully without the legal issues.

I don’t think we have a shot at a franchise QB till 2026 draft/free agency.

I think a lot of first rounder qbs don't show much the first year. Players drafted in the first round, expectations are high but there are some pieces in there that help them to be successful as soon as possible. Heaner and Rattler have NONE. Way too early to tell and if next year draft doesn't have a quarterback worth drafting in the first, continue to see what you got with Rattler and/or Haener.

Rattler can make some plays but just doesn't see the field enough to really merit a serious consideration for starter. There's just nothing in his game I've seen that really wows me, whether its ball placement, pocket prescence, arm strength, etc.

Haener probably does not belong on an NFL roster.

Rattler reminds me of Winston. He'll give you big plays, but he'll also give away big plays to the defense. In the end, his big plays and big giveaways cancel each other out. It happened tonight on back to back plays. He makes a great play, though I don't know why he jumped, then throws a bad interception on the very next play.

There's no way to ever know the future, especially for two young QB's like Haener and Rattler. They might improve with more experience, or they might not.

I certainly don't expect these young, late round picks to win us games. But as much as everyone trashes on Carr, let me at least see some comparable performances before we talk about these backups with any seriousness. The drop-off is night and day. They need to train in the background until something changes.

For now I'd keep the young QB search up. Roll with Carr till you find someone worth playing.

I agree. I see 2 career backups who may not even be good enough to be backups in the NFL. Neither is better than the other at this point. We don't have a healthy NFL QB on the roster. Shoulda kept Winston or Dalton.

We are stuck with Carr for another year, IMO. The cap and personnel have been completely mismanaged since Sean left.

Otherwise, clean house on this team and start spending high picks on Oline and Dline. Every overpriced veteran needs to do us a favor and retire. Embrace suckage for 2-3 seasons and start over.

First mistake: hiring DA as the head coach. 2nd mistake: double down on the first mistake and let the wrong head coach spend money on a middle of the road QB who isn't any better than the 2 cheap guys we could have kept for no cost.

It's a dumpster fire at this point.

I feel like as long as we draft Cam Ward, him along with other good draft picks would be a positive turning point for this team.

There are way too many holes to fill to be drafting a QB in the 1st round. Plus, this isn't a great year on QBs anyways. Both lines need to be addressed. Safety. WR. Just too many to name. Whomever they draft, they need to be a good pick and not a dud
2026 will be worse for QBs, especially if Arch doesn’t come out.

Not saying we should take a QB, but it doesn’t get better with the next class coming out. At least not yet, that could of course change.

But the positive is that with the current talent level on the the team we are certain to be picking top 5 in every draft in the foreseeable future. So we got that to look forward to.
