Jersey Mike's coming to Da Metrys... (1 Viewer)

Ok, so of the big chain sub shops, where does everyone rank them? I like Firehouse, Jersey Mikes, Jimmy John's and Lenny's as well. But ranking them would be tough for me because I like certain sandwiches at each. Subway is ok, but I would look for any other before going there. None of them hold a candle to a good poboy though. One I have heard is really good, but we don't have here yet is Potbelly.

Jersey Mike's is the best. The rest are garbage.

Of course, I wish I had a po-boy shop near me, but they never get it right here in McTexas.

Do tell where...

As for Ms Coast french bread bakeries, my favorite is Le Bakery in Biloxi. Desporte's used to be as good as NOLA bread. :shedstear:
It came from a place called Tarantos. It's located in Woolmarket on Lorraine
Rd. They've been voted the best poboy on the coast for many years
running. Le Bakery is where I buy my French bread now. The owners of
Desporte's are close friends of mine, but they sold the business after their
father died.

Oh yeah, I know Toronto's well! I grew up eating Desporte's French bread and doughnuts. We lived on 4th street and Grandma lived on Oak almost across the street from the rear entrance.

Firehouse is just ok, Jersey Mike's is better IMO....have never had JJ or Lenny's.....but Potbelly is really good IMO, their bread is unique, kind of like a light ciabatta....

Lenny's has one of the best Philly's based off of all these chains IMO and the chicken salad is always great.

That happened here too, I dont what has happened, maybe the franchise license renewal fee went up and wasn't worth it.

I can tolerate Jersey Mike’s or Lenny’s (might be a bit regionally limited) but not crazy about either.
Firehouse, Jimmy John’s or Subway just don’t do anything for me. At least not anything positive.

Can’t say I care for any of them, but those would be my rankings.

Yessir!!!

I am lucky enough to live less than 1/4 mile from one who serves one on
Nola french bread delivered daily. The bakeries on the Ms. coast come
very close, but we can't duplicate the baking conditions from Nola.

I think I'll have one for lunch today :)

One of the best shrimp po-boys I've ever had was from a 7-11 off Causeway(it's now a Little Tokyo). 8 inch shrimp po-boy for 4 bucks and the shrimp weren't small either.

I've never had Jersey Mike's and I've never even heard of Lenny's. I also haven't had Firehouse as well. Jimmy Johns was a complete letdown the one time I went there. Too much bread and not enough meats and cheese. If I go to Subway, gotta get meatball marinara. I'm not sure if they're open anymore but Randazzo's off service road near Clearview made excellent po-boys. Softshell crab was awesome and I liked the eggplant parm. So I guess I'd go with Randazzo's. Short stop is also good but I probably only ate there once a decade ago so I don't remember it.

The one word that comes to mind when i think of Jimmy John’s is ‘dry’.. i just feel like everything ive ever gotten there was really dry, maybe i didnt get enough oil and vinegar.. that said, id frequent them quite a bit in the 10 yrs i lived in Houston, b/c in a pinch it was super-fast, cheap and again, slightly healthier than most fast food (a low bar).. ive been to Lenny’s when i was a medical device rep and would bring lunches for offices but never actually tried their sandwiches myself .. My go-to poboy place in suburban NOLA is Radosta’s , sorry if im repeating myself cause i feel like I’ve mentioned this recently- but i was just there a couple weeks ago and got my favorite, the hot sausage poboy, which is the hottest thing ive ever eaten in my life.. but it also tastes really good.. i used to love Schmitty’s in Kenna, their fried shrimp poboy was overflowing w/tasty shrimp, but havent been there in so long im not sure if i can still recommend it .. when in NOLA proper, of course u cant go wrong with Parkway, and i like Guy’s Poboys on Magazine by the Park (id stop there almost weekly wehn i lived around there a couple years back).. and further down Magazine near the Warehouse i like Mahony’s, but man they shouldnt call them poboys b/c id get a large shrimp poboy and by itself it was $18.. today it probably costs $25 .
